Members Present: DeLilah Collins, Alejandro Garcia, Josh Houde, Shawn McDowell, Kaitlin Nares, Chris Niyork, Michael Stegman, Bret Walker Absent: Oz Flores, Craig Hurst, Desiree Martinelli, Katie Southard Staff present: Carolyn Keith, Chad Redin, Paul Hebinck, Maria Jepson, Pam Young Guest: Karl Zimmerman, City Resident 2. Committee Member Update 3. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Member Walker seconded by Member Stegman to approve the October 18, 2022, minutes as submitted. VOTE: Unanimous. The motion passed. 4. Unfinished Business 23-009 2022 Accomplishments Co-chairs Houde and Collins reviewed a presentation detailing the committee’s 2022 accomplishments. Highlights include adjusting to hybrid Zoom/in-person meetings, staff overviews of recreation/golf/park programs and the City tour for members. Another new aspect of meetings was implementing the community engagement/interaction updates where members share feedback in order to create dialogue and report back to City Council. A new process for onboarding new members was outlined. In addition, future topics and presentations were identified. 5. New Business Commerce City Page 1 Parks, Recreation, and Golf Meeting Minutes - Final January 17, 2023 Advisory Committee 23-010 2023 Workplan Discussion of committee members participating in PRG programs in order to promote the programs, volunteering at events, participating in the Project Present program and possible individual contributions to the QCF or PRG scholarship programs. Collaboration with QCF was also discussed regarding 2023 special events (80’s Prom, fundraisers, Curt Holland Golf Tournament). Members will be invited to attend upcoming public outreach events for the Monaco Park renovation and a new park at Oasis and 2nd Creek Farm. PRG fees and charges will be reviewed by the committee to provide feedback regarding cost recovery. The committee will have a critical role in the outreach for the PRG Master Plan Update, assisting with gathering feedback from the public. 23-011 2023 Budget Boards and Commissions have been given an annual budget for expenses. Director Keith reviewed the proposed line-item expenses for 2023. To make expenditures the committee must take an action item that requires committee approval. 6. Community Engagement/Interaction Updates & Feedback Kudos to the youth sports program coordinator for his communication, professionalism and organization in preparation for the upcoming season. The Turkey Trot was also a great event. The social held at Buffalo Run for the committee was a great environment and opportunity to see each other. 7. Council Member Reports & Information Council Member Rick Davis resigned from City Council and is no longer on the PRG Advisory Committee. City Council selected a new Councilperson, and they have been appointed to this committee – Renée Millard-Chacon. 8. Committee Member Reports & Information Committee Member Shawn McDowell, and his Boy Scout Troupe partnered with another local troupe for a holiday performance at Buffalo Run Golf Course. 9. PRG Announcements Distributed to all members via email on January 13, 2023. Meeting Guest Zimmerman, inquired for clarification on a few topics and staff answered his questions. 10.
