2023
Director Keith reviewed the Metropolitan Football Stadium District Act Presentation
that detailed the distribution of a one-time payment to local municipalities from the
sale of the NFL Broncos sports team. Commerce City was awarded $613,462 to be
used towards youth activity programs in the community and must report how the
funds were spent within the year.
Possible areas for the funds were outlined and members also shared their feedback.
Recommendations will be made to City Council and they will make the final decision.
6. Community Engagement/Interaction Updates & Feedback
Feedback was shared that recreation center users were frustrated with the recent
closure of facilities due to inclement weather/snow and not getting notifications until
coming to the building. Facility closures are posted on the City’s website and the
voice mail message indicates the closure as well.
The youth basketball programs have been very organized and well attended.
A request was received to extend the open swim time on Saturday mornings, which
is the time reserved for swim lessons.
Clarification that only Bison Ridge has electric charging stations for cars.
