Call To Order/Roll Call Present: Carole Harvell, Bruce Reilly, George Maxey, Jennie Loveridge, Carli Plummer, Bruce Emery, Charles Crist, Jean Tapia-Smith Absent: Councilman Benjamin Huseman, Robert Sheetz, Thelma Cole, Mayor Pro Tem Rick Teter, Tillie Villareal, Present Staff: Brian McBroom, Daniela Villarreal 2. Approval of Minutes Minutes 01/09/2019 Attachments: Minutes Commissioner Plummer motioned to approve the meeting minutes from January. Commissioner Maxey seconded. Motion was approved. 3. New Business a) Staff reached out to Steve Latham, recreation assistant, to come to a commission meeting and talk about the different needs he encounters when residents ask for resources. Steve was not able to attend the commission meeting, but mentioned affordable housing as a big need in the community. In order to continue conversations around affordable housing, staff will reach out to Tracy Jones from the Commerce City Housing Authority to come in to a meeting to present on current efforts. McBroom shared with the commissioners of a recent affordable housing assessment that can be found in agenda materials from the January 7 City Council meeting. b) Speaker series: topics and dates will be further discussed after the housing authority presentation. c) Commissioners briefly talked about opportunities of bridging the communication gap among seniors in the community. 4. Other a) Staff shared with commissioners of upcoming tech classes being hosted at the recreation centers. Commissioner Loveridge and Harvell shared that the attendance for those are currently low, and are being revisited. Commissioner Maxey proposed that the group look into an organization called OATS (Older Adults Tech Services) and see if they would be able to provide services in the city. b) Commissioners will tentatively plan for May 20 City Council report back.
