Call To Order/Roll Call Meeting was called to order at 3:07 p.m. Present: Carole Harvell, Carol Taylor-Boyd, Mary K Natho, Tina Ledesma, Jennie Loveridge, Bruce Reilly, Councilwoman Susan Noble, Gabriela Adeshewo, Carlita Plummer Absent: Tillie Villareal, George Maxey, Councilwoman Jennifer Allen-Thomas, 2. Approval of Minutes Minutes 02/11/2021 Attachments: Minutes Motion to approve meeting minutes by commissioner Taylor-Boyd. Motion seconded by commissioner Plummer. Motion was approved. 3. New Business Council agenda topics of interest: Councilwoman Noble provided the commissioners with an update on council meeting agenda items including recent oil and gas regulations. 2021 Priorities: Commissioner Plummer facilitated the conversation with the members in regards to the 2021 priorities for the Senior Commission. The following were areas of discussion; TRAINING - Senior Planet. Something was lost in translation between expectations on technical training opportunities and actual classes offered -one on one training or demonstration style training -multiple instructors or volunteer environment for 1-1 assistance -smart cell phones -tablets -the 'senior' specific tablets that are loaned free of charge -pcs -teach to access CC senior resources -Other organizations that may be willing to volunteer to train? Commerce City Page 1 Senior Commission Meeting Minutes March 11, 2021 RESOURCE COMMUNICATIONS -Create a resource brochure / Flyer / Print communication -Distribute to local Food Banks (Fish, Food Bank of the Rockies, etc) to include for CC residents -Direct Mail to CC Senior Citizens -Distribute to CC Rec Centers -Distribute to local Churches to distribute to seniors in need -Distribute to local Pharmacies (Walgreens, King Soopers, Walmart) -Distribute to local Grocers (King Soopers) -Distribute to Commerce City/Adams County Governmental Offices -Evaluate our current online resource (get feedback/verify/update, etc) -can we find out from CC IT how many (unique) visitors to our page or link clicks? -Create an online brochure that can be accessed with phone and downloaded (QR code on print ads) -Advertise in Connect -Communicate COVID shots for seniors (1A, 1B, 70+, 65+, 50+, conditions, etc). SOCIALIZATION -Work with Parks & Rec to offer FREE or SPONSORED Senior Social/Covid Safe interactions -No applications - discourages use & utilization. Or have Rec Center Staff complete? -Create Senior Social Events Outdoors (Senior Social? warmer weather/outdoors SAFETY/TRANSPORTATION -Chambers Rd (North CC) between 120th to King Soopers identified as needed continuous sidewalk to allow seniors (all) to walk to/from KS (This may also be a request for CDBG) -Transportation. A broad category requiring more definition/specific ideas. (ie. ride to/from Walmart to Eagle Creek Rec Center) 4. Other No other conversation 5.
