7887 E. 60th Ave. Commerce City Commerce City, CO 80022 c3gov.com Meeting Minutes - Final Senior Commission Thursday, October 12, 2023 2:00 PM Civic Center, Room 2108, or Zoom 1 Call to Order Chair Plummer called the meeting to order at 2:08 p.m. Present 10 - Commissioner Carol Taylor-Boyd, Commissioner Carole Harvell, Alternate Commissioner Diane Narvaez, Commissioner George Maxey, Commissioner Mary Chan, Commissioner Mary Natho, Council Member Susan Noble, Commissioner Tillie Villareal, Commissioner Carlita Plummer, and Commissioner Tina Ledesma Absent 5 - Commissioner Anita Mercado, Ex Officio Gabriela Adeshewo, Commissioner Jennie Loveridge, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Allen-Thomas, and Commissioner Myrna Ferguson 2. Approval of Minutes Min 23-254 Minutes of Sept. 14, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Narvaez made a motion to approve the minutes of the Sept. 14, 2023 meeting. Commissioner Villareal seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 3. Public Comment One member of the public joined to observe and introduced themselves. 4. Elections Commissioner Natho made a motion to approve Chair Plummer as 2024 Chair of the Senior Commission. Commissioner Chan seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commissioner Narvaez made a motion to approve Vice Chair Boyd as the 2024 Vice Chair of the Senior Commission. Commissioner Chan seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commissioners Boyd and Harvell, and Councilwoman Noble arrived. 5. 2024 Goal Development The Commission discussed and developed goals for 2024. It was determine the 2024 event would be held on June 8, 2024. A back-up date of June 15, 2024 was also selected. 7. 2023 Service Project Planning The Commission discussed the 2023 Service Project. A study session was scheduled for Nov. 2 at 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. Commissioner Chan made a motion to purchase 200 additional Senior Commission reusable grocery bags. Vice Chair Boyd seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 8. Other Business Staff provided an update on the Senior Commission holiday celebration. 9. City Council Update Councilwoman Noble provided an update. 10. Adjourn Chair Plummer adjourned the meeting at 4:59 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
