Call To Order/Roll Call Chair Carlita Plummer called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Present 7 - Commissioner Carol Taylor-Boyd, Ex Officio Tina Ledesma, Chair Carlita Plummer, Commissioner E. Diane Narvaez, Commissioner Carole Harvell, Commissioner Mary Natho, and Commissioner Scott Hefty Excused 3 - Council Member Kristi Douglas, Ex Officio Gabriela Adeshewo, and Commissioner Melinda Mcgowan Absent 2 - Mayor Pro Tem Susan Noble, and Commissioner Myrna Ferguson 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made by Commissioner Narvaez, Seconded by Commissioner Natho to approve the minutes with modifications. Membership Update Commissioners introduced themselves to new alternate member Antonia Dell. Alternate Dell presented herself to the commission. Commissioners were informed that there is one active member position and one alternate position open to apply for. 5. Council Presentation Updates and Recordings Chair Plummer updated commissioners on the July 15th "Senior Commission Update to Council" and the July 22nd presentation on the "Senior Needs Assessment". July Lunch and Learn Retrospective Commissioners reviewed the past lunch and learn retrospective and discussed how to improve for the next Lunch and Learn planned for September 18th. 7. September Lunch and Learn Confirmation Commissioners discussed food and programming for the September Lunch and Learn. 8. Budget Update Commissioners reviewed the Senior Commission Budget Commissioner Harvell motioned to permit the staff liason to use monies from miscellaneous funds for preapproved and preauthorized purchases of up to $250 in cases were the cost exceeds the budgeted item. Commissioner Taylor-Boyd seconded. Ayes: 7- Commissioner Taylor-Boyd, Ex Officio Ledesma, Chair Plummer, Commissioner Narvaez, Commissioner Harvell, Commissioner Natho and Commissioner Hefty Excused: 3- Council Member Douglas, Ex Officio Adeshewo and Commissioner Mcgowan 9. Swag Purchase The purchase of jar openers is $50 over the approved budget. Commissioner Taylor-Boyd made a motion to move $50 left from the Senior Resource Fair to Swag Budget item. Commissioner Narvaez seconded. Ayes: 7- Commissioner Taylor-Boyd, Ex Officio Ledesma, Chair Plummer, Commissioner Narvaez, Commissioner Harvell, Commissioner Natho and Commissioner Hefty Excused: 3- Council Member Douglas, Ex Officio Adeshewo and Commissioner Mcgowan 10. October Elections Chair Plummer informed the commissioners that elections will be held in September for both the Senior Commission Chair and Vice Chair positions. She invited commissioners to talk with any commissioner they wanted to nominate prior to nominating the individuals. Nominations will be made at the September meeting. 11. December End of Year Celebration Planning The commission chose the 12 of December for the End of Year celebration. Commerce City Page 2 Senior Commission Meeting Minutes August 8, 2024 12. Social Event Planning Commissioners discussed ideas for the Social Event to be held in November. A study session will be held on August 22nd to finalize planning. 13. New Business Staff Liason shared about the dates and information for a new Resource and Benefit series called Resource Roundup. Chair Plummer encouraged members to support by promoting or attending. 14. Other Business No other business was discussed 15. Council Update No updates were provided. 16.
