Call to Order Chair Smith called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m. Present 9 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Ingrid Barnett, Commissioner René Bullock, and Council Member Kristi Douglas Absent 2 - Commissioner Keegan Jones, and Commissioner Kenia Prieto 2. Meeting Time Discussion The Commission discussed meeting start time. No action was taken. 3. Guest Speaker: Mayor Huseman The guest speaker was rescheduled for the Youth Commission meeting on September 15, 2022. 4. Boards & Commissions Expectations Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, gave a reminder to the Youth Commission regarding the expectations of Board and Commission members. 5. Approval of Minutes Min 22-229 Minutes of July 7, 2022 Meeting Commissioner Acevedo made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 7, 2022 meeting. Commissioner Kennison seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Min 22-228 Annual Retreat Minutes of August 2, 2022 Commissioner Velasco-Zubia made a motion to approve the minutes of the Annual Retreat on August 2, 2022. Commissioner Acevedo seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commerce City Page 1 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 18, 2022 6. New Business: A. Winter Service Project: The Commission discussed a potential winter service project to throw a holiday event for the Senior Community. B. Brighton Image Summit: Commissioner Acevedo made a motion that the Youth Commission attend the Brighton Image Summit Conference in November. Commissioner Pham seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 7. Old Business: Annual Retreat Review & Feedback: The Commission discussed and provided feedback on the calendar. Chair Smith left the meeting at 7:13 p.m. Commissioner Acevedo suggested getting new apparel ahead of the winter months for the Youth Commission. The Commission provided discussion. It was determined that apparel would be discussed at the next meeting. Commissioner Barnett requested a monthly budget update at future meetings. 8. Adjourn Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia adjourned the meeting at 7:25 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
