Call to Order Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. Present 12 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Council Member Kristi Douglas, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, Commissioner Paia Martinez, Commissioner René Bullock, and Commissioner Travis Watkins Absent 4 - Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Keegan Jones, and Commissioner Kenia Prieto 2. Guest Speaker: Nicole Jones, Denver International Airport Nicole Jones presented on career paths at the Denver International Airport. Chair Smith, Commissioner Bullock and Commissioner Watkins arrived. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 23-035 Minutes of Jan. 19, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Acevedo made a motion to approve the minutes of the Jan. 19, 2023 meeting. Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 4. Monthly Budget Update Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, provided an update on the budget. Diversity Conference De-Brief The Commission shared their experience at the 2022 Youth Celebrates Diversity Conference. The attendees recommended attending the event again next year. B. Memorial Day Parade Subcommittee Chairs The Commission discussed planning for the Memorial Day Parade. Commissioner Kennison made a motion to create two subcommittees. One focused on decorating the float, and one focused on t-shirts and outreach. Commissioner Acevedo seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. It was determined that Commissioners Kennison and Cordero would serve as the float decor subcommittee and Commissioners Pham and Acevedo would serve as the t-shirts and outreach subcommittee. 6. Old Business A. Blood Drive Subcommittee Assignments The Commission discussed the blood drive. Commissioner Acevedo made a motion to create three subcommittees to plan the blood drive, including marketing, refreshments and outreach. Commissioner Kelley seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. B. Earth Day Volunteer Opportunity Staff Liaison, Leslie Yang, provided a volunteer opportunity for Earth Day. The Commissioners provided direction to participate, and bring back additional details closer to the event. 7. Other Business None. 8.
