Call to Order Chair Plummer called the meeting to order at 3:11 p.m. Present 10 - Commissioner Anita Mercado, Commissioner Carol Taylor-Boyd, Commissioner Carole Harvell, Ex Officio Gabriela Adeshewo, Commissioner George Maxey, Commissioner Jennie Loveridge, Commissioner Mary Chan, Commissioner Mary Natho, Council Member Susan Noble, and Commissioner Tillie Villareal Absent 3 - Alternate Commissioner Diane Narvaez, Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Allen-Thomas, and Commissioner Myrna Ferguson 2. Guest Speaker: Jordan Roberts, Deputy City Clerk Deputy City Clerk, Jordan Roberts, presented on how to make policy recommendations to the City Council. Commissioner Mercado joined the meeting. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 23-043 Minutes of Jan. 12, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Chan made a motion to approve the minutes of Jan. 12, 2023. Vice Chair Boyd seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 4. Monthly Budget Update Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, provided a monthly budget update. The Commission discussed purchasing Senior Commission business cards. Commissioner Loveridge made a motion to approve the purchase of business cards for an amount not to exceed to $100. Commissioner Chan seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 5. New Business: A. Review 2023 Goals Chair Plummer reviewed the 2023 Senior Commission Goals. Senior Resource Fair Chair Plummer provided an update on the work of the Senior Resource Fair subcommittee. The Commission discussed. Commissioner Chan made a motion to reduce the vendor fee to $250 for insurance carriers or for-profit companies invited to participate. Commissioner Harvell seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. B. Offsite Outreach Events Vice Chair Boyd shared the first listening session of the year will be held on March 2 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Active Adults Center. The Commission discussed logistics and next steps. Commissioner Natho left the meeting. 7. Old Business Staff Liaison, Jenny Penoncello, shared the updated ordinance will go before City Council for approval on March 6. 8.
