Call to Order Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. Present 12 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Council Member Kristi Douglas, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, Commissioner Paia Martinez, Commissioner Travis Watkins, Council Member Craig Kim, Commissioner Elizabeth Martinez-Atayde, Commissioner Manuel Guardiola-Rodriguez, Commissioner Alejandra Guardiola, and Commissioner Serrianna Safieh Absent 8 - Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Commissioner Keegan Jones, Commissioner Kenia Prieto, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Megan Pham, and Commissioner Michael Kelley 2. Guest Speakers: Nathan Chavez & Dalton Guerra, Community Development Guest Speakers, Nathan Chavez and Dalton Guerra, presented on their careers as City Planners. 3. Approval of Minutes Min 23-129 Minutes of the April 20, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Acevedo made a motion to approve the minutes of April 20, 2023 meeting. Commissioner Cordero seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 4. New Business A. Summer Meeting Schedule The Commission discussed the summer meeting schedule. It was determined the Youth Commission would only meet on the first Thursday of June, and one time in July for the Annual Retreat. The Annual Retreat date will be selected at a future meeting. Commerce City Page 1 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes - Final May 4, 2023 5. Old Business A. Memorial Day Parade Commissioner Bullock made a motion to buy t-shirts for an amount not to exceed $300. Council member Douglas seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. The Commission discussed their ideas for the Memorial Day Parade. B. Blood Drive Commissioner Acevedo made a motion to host the Blood Drive on July 24. Commissioner Safieh seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. C. Music in the Park Swag The Commission selected which swag they would like to hand out at Music in the Park 2023. 6. Other Business The Commission discussed the Earth Day event, the update to the City Council and other events occurring in the City. 7. Adjourn Vice Chair Velasco-Zubia adjourned the meeting at 7:58 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
