Call to Order Commissioner Acevedo called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. Present 12 - Commissioner Aliyah Acevedo, Commissioner Cobe Koonce, Commissioner Desiree Kennison, Council Member Kristi Douglas, Commissioner Megan Pham, Commissioner Michael Kelley, Commissioner Paia Martinez, Commissioner Travis Watkins, Commissioner Elizabeth Martinez-Atayde, Commissioner Manuel Guardiola-Rodriguez, Commissioner Alejandra Guardiola, and Commissioner Serrianna Safieh Absent 7 - Commissioner Christina Wickersheim, Commissioner Isabela Velasco-Zubia, Commissioner Keegan Jones, Commissioner Laura Hellewell, Commissioner Morgan Smith, Commissioner Olivia Cordero, and Council Member Craig Kim 2. Approval of Minutes Min 23-206 Minutes of June 1, 2023 Meeting Commissioner Kennison made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 1, 2023 meeting. Commissioner Pham seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 3. Ice Breaker #1 The Commissioners participated in an ice breaker. Commerce City Page 1 Youth Commission Meeting Minutes - Final August 17, 2023 4. Elections of Chair & Vice-Chair Commissioner Safieh nominated Commissioner Acevedo as Youth Commission Chair. Commissioner Acevedo accepted the nomination. Commissioner Kennison made a motion to approve Commissioner Acevedo as Chair of the Youth Commission for the 2023-2024 school year. Commissioner Safieh seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. Commissioners Pham and Kennison were nominated for Vice Chair. The Commissioners completed a blind vote. It was determined by blind vote that Commissioner Pham would serve as Vice Chair. Commissioner Guardiola-Rodriguez made a motion to approve Commissioner Pham as Vice Chair for the 2023-2024 school year. Commissioner Watkins seconded the motion which was approved unanimously. 5. Youth Commission Goal Setting 2023-2024 Staff presented on writing SMARTIE goals. The Youth Commission developed their 2023-2024 goals. 6. Ice Breaker #2 The Commission participated in an ice breaker. 7. 2023 - 2024 Calendar Review The Commission discussed the calendar for the 2023-2024 school year. 8. Review of Point System The Commission discussed the 2023-2024 point system. 9. MFSD Funding De-Brief: Youth Conference Staff shared an update on MFSD funding. 10. Closing Remarks & Adjourn Chair Acevedo adjourned the meeting at 7:48 p.m. Commerce City Page 2
