Regular Session (Open to the Public) 1. Call To Order Chair Paschal called the meeting to order at 6:31 pm. Members present: Nick Paschal, Maureen Corcoran, Margaret Bryan, Mary Arnold, Zainab Tinwala, Jeff Roller (Virtual), Edward Rose, Mike Ridgley, Enaika Kishnami, Hannah Greenberg Staff present: Jessica Carpenter, Sheri Belmont, Adam Richter, Cecilia Gandara, Vanessa Contreras, Calie Willis, and David Ellison City of Coppell, Texas Page 1 Parks and Recreation Board Minutes December 4, 2023 2. Citizens' Appearance Chair Paschal asked for those who signed up to speak: 1) Jack Henderson, 617 Pheasant Ln.Coppell, TX 75019, spoke in support of the Senior and Community Center staff. He thanked the staff for the new atmosphere of inclusion and diversity and for all they do to support the seniors. 3. Consider approval of minutes: November 6, 2023 A motion was made by Boardmember Corcoran, seconded by Boardmember Arnold, that this agenda item be approved. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. 4. Annual Update from the Coppell Football Association President of the Coppell Football Association, Jordy Bernhard gave an update in regards to the current registration numbers and the need of more practice facilities. 5. Manager’s Update – Calie Willis, Recreation Manager - Senior and Community Center Calie Willis along with Pamela Walker, Adrianne House, and David Ruiz gave an update on current and up coming activities, and programs a long with the facility rooms available for rent at the Senior and Community Center. 6. Presentation and discussion relating to a request to designate a Coppell bird Amir Tinwala gave a presentation on Kestrel bird nesting boxes. The Parks and Recreation Board members were all in favor to designate the Kestrel bird as the Coppell bird. 7. Youth Advisor's Report Enaika Kishnani, and Hannah Greenberg gave their thanks to the Parks and Recreation Board for the opportunity. 8. Director’s update regarding upcoming events, projects, and departmental developments. Director Jessica Carpenter updated the board on upcoming events and projects. 9. Discussion regarding future agenda items. No items at this time.
