Present: 5 - Board Member Lista,Chairperson Diaz,Vice Chair Lage,Board Member Daley and Board Member Bello DISCUSSION ITEMS Board Procedures - Yaneris Figueroa Yaneris Figueroa, Assistant City Attorney, discussed several matters. Chairperson is to not direct motions. If Chairperson wants to make a motion they must pass the seat to the Vice-Chair. The Chairperson is responsible for how the meeting is conducted. Chairperson to disclose at the beginning of the public hearing the amount of time allotted for the public to speak. Once the public hearing is closed the Board Members can have their discussion on the Case prior to making the motions. One person to speak at a time to provide an accurate record on the transcripts. The current deadlines on the Cases have been confusing to the public. City staff will begin making recommendations for deadlines in order to simplify the process. The Board can always make their own recommendations and deadlines. The Board's Order cannot include fire related requirements. The Board can deny an extension on a Case if fire issues are a concern. 40-year Recertification Requirements - Manuel Lopez Manuel Lopez, Building Official, explained the 40-year Building Recertification Report is focused on structural and electrical issues only. Fire is not part of the recertification process. A motion was made: If a Board Member wants a Fire Department representative to attend an up-coming meeting they must contact the Secretary to the Board in advance. The Secretary will contact the Fire Department and request their attendance. A motion was made by Board Member Bello, seconded by Vice Chair Lage, that this matter be Approved on Consent Agenda. The motion passed by the following vote. Yeas: 5- Board Member Lista,Chairperson Diaz,Vice Chair Lage,Board Member Daley and Board Member Bello Permit Issuance Restrictions - William Miner William Miner, Building Director, explained that currently the Cases presented have only been regarding unsafe structures due to lack of building recertification. Those structures have been non-compliant for over a year. City staff will begin including Cases of contractors with performance problems that include contractors that have open permits. If staff cannot resolve the issue the Case will be brought forth to the Board for review and determination. Q&A Questions were answered during the subject discussions.
