Coralville Board of Adjustment

Minutes Board of Adjustment Meeting Item #1: Meeting called to order 6:00 PM Item #2: Member present: Szcech, Snyder and Rice. Absent:Wells and Shannon Others present: Jim Kessler, Building and Zoning Official, Denise Dickel and Jen Spragle Item #3: Minutes from May 17, 2010 meeting approved. Motion carried: 3-0 Item #4: Public Hearing on a request by Dan and Denise Dickel on a variance request to rebuild a garden shed in the side yard of their property located at 970 Maplewood Drive. Public Hearing opened by Chairman Snyder: Ms. Dickel explained that the shed in question was placed there while they were still in the county and were subsequently annexed into the city. Over the years the wooden structure had deteriorated and the floor had completely rotted away. The shed in its present location is hidden from street view by a retaining wall, plantings and changes in elevations. Relocation of the shed to the back yard would make the shed much more visible to neighbors and the street this was also reiterated by her neighbor Jen Spragle. Public Hearing closed: Motion to approve by: Rice Seconded by: Szcech Kessler stated all the facts presented by Ms Dickel were accurate and he would recommend the variance be granted.
