Minutes Board of Adjustment Meeting May 17, 2010 Item #1: Meeting called to order 6:00 PM Item #2: Member present: Szcech, Wells, Shannon and Rice. Absent: Snyder Others present: Jim Kessler, Building and Zoning Official, Scott Larson and Michelle Funke. Item #3: Minutes from February 22, 2010 meeting approved. Motion carried: 4-0 Item #4: Public Hearing on a request by Mr. Larson and Ms. Funke for a Variance to a residential front yard structure setback @ 619 8th Avenue Coralville, IA. Public Hearing opened by Chairman Pro-Tem Shannon: Mr. Larson explained that he and Ms. Funke were requesting the variance in order for them to enlarge the existing garage and build additional living space above. The set back of the existing garage and house is existing non- conforming by present Zoning Ordinances and the addition will not result in the setback becoming more non-conforming. The request is not unique to the neighborhood; many existing homes in this area are non-conforming because they are older homes built many years before the present codes were adopted. Public Hearing closed.
