City of Coralville Board of Adjustment Meeting December 12, 2011 Staff: Jim Kessler, Building & Zoning Official, and Dee Marshek Administrative Assistant Item # 1: Meeting called to order @ 6:00 PM Item # 2: Roll Call: Members present: Snyder, Rice, Wells and Szcech. Absent: Shannon Item # 3: Minutes from April 25, 2011 meeting approved. Rice: Motion to Approve. Szech: 2nd Motion. Motion carried: 4-0 Item # 4: Public Hearing request for a Conditional Use Permit for brewing beer in excess of 650 gallons per day in a Commercial District @ 903 Quarry Rd. Public Hearing Opened: Public Hearing Closed: a) Consider approval of Conditional Use Permit. Wells: Motion to approve Snyder: 2nd Motion Kessler: This is a request for the Backpocket Brewery in the Iowa River Landing area. Council amended the C-2 zoning to allow for brewing of beer in a C-2 Commercial District . Approval of this Conditional Use by this Board of Adjustment would allow for brewing in excess of 650 gallons per day. Motion carried: 3 -1 Nay (Szcech ) Item # 5: Public Hearing requested for a Conditional Use Permit for construction of a structure in a designated floodway @ 719 Camp Cardinal Blvd. Public Hearing Open: Public Hearing Closed Kessler: This Conditional Use Permit request is to allow for the construction of a comfort station just northeast of the bridge on Camp Cardinal Rd. This comfort station will includes a parking lot, bathrooms, drinking fountains, and a launching dock onto Clear Creek. Section 165.10 of the  Floodplain Ordinance states the placement of a structure in a Floodway District requires a Conditional Use Permit obtained by the Board of Adjustment Committee. Members and Kessler discuss the sanitary and backflow required of this water proof building. a) Consider approval of Conditional Use Permit.
