CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Minutes of December 2, 2021 Present: Commission Members Eve Casserly; Josh Schamberger; Human Resource/Risk Manager Mike Funke; Police Chief Shane Kron Meeting was called to order at 12:01 PM. Approve Agenda: Motion by Schamberger; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes. Approve Minutes of October 27, 2021 meeting Motion by Schamberger; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes. Consider Decertification of the October 27, 2021 Police Officer Hiring List Funke informed the committee that the list approved October 27, 2021 was no longer viable. The lone candidate on the list did not pass the background investigation. Motion by Schamberger; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes. Consider Certification of the Police Officer Hiring List Funke presented a list of two for the commission to consider. He gave a brief bio of the candidate. Funke mentioned 5 candidates were interviewed out of a potential 7 applicants who showed up for the testing. Motion by Schamberger; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes. Other Business It is anticipated that a hiring process will be needed again as the two approved, if passing the background will be hired immediately which will exhaust the list. A March 2022 testing date is the target. Funke will keep the committee informed of exact dates. Funke also mentioned the residency requirement changed from 15 minutes to the Coralville City Limits to be 23 air miles from the Coralville City Limits. It is expected to help with retention and recruitment. Motion to Adjourn Motion by Schamberger; Second by Casserly; Motion passed all ayes.
