Review Proposed Eagle Scout Project – Auburn Hills Wetland Tyler Chenhall, Eagle Scout candidate, attended the meeting and shared his project. The project is an interpretive trail around the middle and upper wetland cells at the Auburn Hills Wetlands. The trail will have nine signage points around the wetlands, two benches, and a short trail into the wooded wetland west of the wetlands. Chenhall has secured a donation of limestone paver stones that he can have engraved with arrows to define the trail path and move people from point to point on the interpretive trail. Earthview Environmental is assisting with the wording on the signs which will be ordered late fall for a spring installation. Chenhall is planning a work day for October. Project appealed to Chenhall as being a finishing touch to the wetland that can help the community to enjoy it. Gross commented that Wickham students and teachers should have input into the project and check to see if there is a wetlands and woodlands unit. Fevold also added that there are a lot of good educational benefits to the project. Director’s Report Proud gave an update on Auburn East Trail. Because of the size of this project, a contractor will be hired to do some of the clearing in the lower timber which is thick with wild barbary and raspberry bushes. There has been no word yet from FEMA on whether we can forward with bidding the Transit and Parks replacement facility. Council Report Mitch Gross gave an update of the projects included in the $27.1 million that was awarded from the I-JOBS fund. A map was shared showing the areas that will be addressed including raising First Avenue, a new First Avenue/Clear Creek bridge that will include flood gates that can be closed when the Iowa River rises. A trail run under First Avenue at the bridge allowing for safe passage below the bridge for pedestrians and bicyclists. The city was also awarded $11 in EDA funds which will raise the Crandic Railroad behind the Heartland Inn and will raise the railroad bridge over Clear Creek.
