Coralville Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting Minutes July 18, 2016 Call to Order Commission Chairperson Fred Fevold called the meeting to order at time 7:03 p.m. Present were Commission Members Marti Mount, Alex Taylor and David Thayer, Parks and Recreation Director, Sherri Proud and Recreation Intern, Emma Yoder. Citizen Comments None Approval of Minutes Commission Member Thayer made the motion to approve the meeting minutes from June 20 , 2016 with the noted corrections; Commission Member Mount seconded the motion; unanimous approval. Policy Reviews The final policy review and vote was made to approve the Commission ByLaws with one change from meeting eleven times per year to ten times per year with the months of August and February being months that a Commission meeting would not be held. Motion to approve by Taylor, seconded by Thayer, motion passed. Annual Report Proud presented the 2015 Parks and Recreation Annual Report. Report can be found on the Parks and Recreation page at www.coralville.org. Director’s Report Parks and Recreation Director Proud reported that Brown Deer was awarded Best in the Corridor for the eleventh year in a row and has now been given Hall of Fame status by the Corridor Business Journal. This means Brown Deer will be listed yearly in the Hall of Fame but will no longer be eligible for the yearly vote. Rough mowing has begun throughout the community. The Iowa DNR recommends delaying mowing any bird habitat nesting areas until mid to late July. Parks Staff has been doing a lot of storm clean up. Downed limbs and trees have kept them busy. Recreation programs and summer camp are in full swing and most camp weeks are full. The new junior high Friday adventure programs are popular.
