Tai called meeting to order at 5:10 pm 3. Review Minutes: a. Review Minutes Dec 5, 2022 - Tai moved to approve with corrections, Samantha seconds 4. New Business: a. Farm to Spaceship (first week in December) - Jessica Thurman i. not much to report per Tai b. Ugly Sweater @ Wildedge Dec 8, 2022 - Tai i. good networking event - got 5 people to sign up for more info for CPAAC. Invited them to the meeting tonight. c. Meeting Dec 30, 2022- Becky, Tai, Jodie, AJ Dillon, Sam i. Creative Economy Committee 1. to develop into creative district planning group 2. 81321 Launch grant program through Zu, funded by LOR as first pillar a. must be trustees, AJ Dillon to come on as trustee b. Tai Rogerssuggests Tai and Sam to become trustees also, curious if city would pay for that 3. where does it fit into the grand scheme of things with CPAAC 4. Rachael has interest in attending and help moving it forward d. Skatepark Mural - Creighton Wright i. skatepark art was great then has slowly been being covered up with graffiti ii. repainted in August due to graffiti takeover iii. protective coating suggested to preserve murals makes it too slick for the skaters iv. wants it to be more elevated like street art and less like general tagging of words v. has budgeted for the supplies vi. SCYC skate club interested in assisting vii. David Raineyhappy to help viii. Tai helped with the last event when Dean Palmquist was with Parks and Rec 1. Creighton will come up with timeline and action plan for us to help with 2. will meet back with us ~ February to discuss x. discussion about quality of work and paying artists and how to help with that 1. LOR might be able to pitch in 2. Zu Gallery’s 81321 Launch? 5. Old Business: a. email procedure i. new email: arts.committee@cortezco.gov ii. email whatever we want to send out to Rachael Marchbanks b. Schedule meeting with Drew Sandersre. the funding options he mentioned at the last meeting - Tai to contact c. city beautification/lodger’s tax advisory proposal i. Rachael Marchbanks reports there is ~36,000 to assist with beautification ii. discussion around facade improvements and how to distribute, whether a little for everyone approach or more targeted to certain groups in the beginning 1. wants to focus on the more highly blighted properties first iii. Urban Renewal Authority & Downtown Development Authority 1. quasi governmental district 2. can assess special needs tax 3. has been used in the past but usually for pet projects that make the public mad 4. should be used with caution and could probably get public backing if doing it to fund improvements to the town iv. Housing Needs Assessment, Brownfields, Main Street Affiliate d. Action Items from past meetings for follow-up - go over during upcoming Friday meeting i. Meeting with Tami Graham ii. Land’s End Foundry Tour/Paonia Creative District - Sam TBD January 1. need committee members to collectively decide so she can schedule it with them 2. Tai recommends going in the spring due to the weather lately iii. Meeting - Brenda Macon, Director of Durango Arts Center - TBD January 1.
