HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD Historic and/or Architectural Advisory Board City of Cortland January 12, 2016 A regular meeting of the Historic and/or Architectural Review Board was held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, in the Mayor’s Conference Room at City Hall at 8:00 am. Present: Chairman Linda Kline, Commissioners Dan Dineen, and Pam Abbott, Chris Barnes, Karina Murphy, Richard Stock Absent: Commissioner Mary Ann Kane Staff Present: Secretary Devon Rainbow, Zoning Officer Bob Rhea Minutes of November 10, 2015: a motion was made to approve the minutes as amended. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Abbott Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Item #1 – Re-appoint Linda Kline as Chair Motion By: Comm. Dineen Seconded By: Comm. Abbott Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays - 0 Item #2 - 65 Main Street/NBT bank  Signage Patrick Doyle was present to represent Rapp Signs and NBT Bank. They are proposing to change the vinyl banding on the front entrance door with the business hours from dark bronze background to a red background. The vinyl strip will measure 6’’X 31 ½’’ and will be red with white lettering. A second sign will be placed centered under the first sign. It will be made from vinyl and measure 3’’ X 11’’. It will also be red with white lettering to match. Decision of Commission: A motion was made to approve as presented CITY OF CORTLAND – JANUARY 12, 2016 HISTORIC/ARCHITECTURAL BOARD Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Stock Approved: Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Item #3 – 40 Main Street/CDP  Signage Adam Megivern was not present at the meeting. He did email samples of what the signs for the benches and the banners that are going to be hung on Main Street are going to look like. New Business/Old Business: 77-79 Main Street has replaced 3 of the windows. He still has 3 more to go. Bagel shop still has not put the approved color line on their sign. There is still conflict between the business owner and building owner. A violation was issued last spring. The applicant went against the original application that was approved and the Historic Commission agreed to approve the error with stipulation. Nothing about the project is as originally proposed. The Zoning officer will be visiting them again. 45 Main Street, The Wild Ginger Restaurant has been spoken to regarding the mailbox they have in front of the business. They were told they need to go get a PO Box at the Post Office. They were also spoken to regarding the dumpster in the back. The Zoning Officer is working on helping them resolve these issues regarding some language barriers. The City is working on rewriting the Zoning and Historic guide book. Adjournment: Motion by: Comm.
