City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board Historic and/or Architectural Advisory Board City of Cortland April 10, 2018 A special meeting of the Historic and/or Architectural Review Board was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 25 Court St, Mayor’s Conference Room at 8:00 am. Present: Commissioners Richard Stock, Pam Abbott, Dan Dineen, Karina Murphy and Chris Barnes Excused: Chairman Linda Kline Staff Present: Confidential Secretary Devon Rainbow, ZEO Bob Rhea Minutes of February 13, 2018: A motion was made by Comm. Dineen to approve the minutes as presented and Comm. Barnes seconded the motion. Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Vice Chair Richard Stock asked the Board if they could discuss each property individually and then vote on each property individually. All agreed. Item #1 – McNeil Properties (Casullo) – Signage  New signage on properties being renovated There was a general picture that was presented of the final look of the project. 2 samples of painted flat cut .50 aluminum was presented to the Board for McNeil’s company sign. There was no preference to the Board as to what one was to be used. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Abbott Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 20 Church St – Flush mounted with raised aluminum signage, 2” deep, 24’ diameter to be placed on the building. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Murphy Minutes of April 10, 2018 meeting City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 23-29 Main St – Flush mounted with raised aluminum signage, 62” x 6.65”. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 9 Main St – 2 window signs proposed both 36” x 12” made of applied vinyl to be placed on either side of the door. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Murphy Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 67 Main St – 2 vinyl window signs of dark aqua color. One is 6” tall and is the number of the building. One is 30”x 10” and the McNeil company logo. The third sign is 86.80” x 19.68 of stud mounted flush to the building façade in the aluminum. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Murphy Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 11-15 Main St – 2 Flush mounted with raised aluminum signage over the door way both 68.20 x 15.48”. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 21 Main St – Flush mounted with raised aluminum signage, 60” x 6.75” above the entrance. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Murphy Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Minutes of April 10, 2018 meeting City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board 17 Main St – Flush mounted with raised aluminum signage, 60” x 5 3/4” above the entrance. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Abbott Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 17-29 Main St – Cast into stone, blackened in bold and New Times Roman font. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 New Business/Old Business: 77-79 Main Street still has 3 windows to replace as proposed in 2014. 98 Tompkins St (Babjack) has not fixed the fence that was proposed and approved in June 2015. There is a new Hair Solon at 11 Groton Ave. ZEO Bob Rhea talked to the owner and they are going to be putting an application together for signage to bring to the commission. This was addressed in April 2017. The Cross Fit business has removed old backlit signage and has covered with boarding. It appears they are ready to put up a new sign. ZEO Bob Rhea is going to connect with them. A letter was sent to 40-42 Main St. to take care of the façade first when the funding comes in. Adjournment: Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm.
