City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board Historic and/or Architectural Advisory Board City of Cortland May 8, 2018 A special meeting of the Historic and/or Architectural Review Board was held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 25 Court St, Mayor’s Conference Room at 8:00 am. Present: Chairman Linda Kline, Commissioners Richard Stock, Dan Dineen, and Karina Murphy Excused: Commissioners Pam Abbott and Chris Barnes Staff Present: Confidential Secretary Devon Rainbow, ZEO Bob Rhea Minutes of April 10, 2018: A motion was made by Comm. Dineen to approve the minutes as presented and Comm. Stock seconded the motion. Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Item #1 – 43-47 Main St (Anderson) – Window Replacement  Replace existing windows with new Contractor Scott Steve and Owner John Anderson were present for the meeting. They are proposing to replace all the windows with a wood aluminum clad in black. The windows will remain the same size and double hung. They will also replace, prep and paint missing metal trim with prefinished aluminum in black to match the existing. This has been approved through SHIPO. The wooden front doors will be repaired and repainted the current color along with the masonry where mortar is loose or missing and repair existing concrete step. Phase 2 will involve the store front awning and possible façade changes. When Phase 1 is complete, the owner will return to the Board with proposals for Phase 2. A motion was made to approve the application as proposed. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Stock Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 New Business/Old Business: 77-79 Main Street still has 3 windows to replace as proposed in 2014. There is new ownership that has been contacted regarding the windows. Minutes of May 8, 2018 meeting City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board 98 Tompkins St (Babjack) has been slowly working on the fence that was proposed and approved in June 2015. There is a new Hair Salon at 11 Groton Ave. ZEO Bob Rhea talked to the owner and they are going to be putting an application together for signage to bring to the commission. This was addressed in April 2017. The Cross Fit business has removed old backlit signage and has covered with boarding. It appears they are ready to put up a new sign. It was asked if they could at least paint the empty area until they are ready to put up signage. A letter was sent to 40-42 Main St. to take care of the façade first when the funding comes in.
