City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board Historic and/or Architectural Advisory Board City of Cortland July 14, 2020 A special meeting of the Historic and/or Architectural Review Board was held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, via ZOOM at 8:00 am. Present: Chairman Linda Kline, Commissioners Dan Dineen, Christine Barnes, Karina Murphy Excused: Commissioner Richard Stock Staff Present: Confidential Secretary Devon Rainbow, Interim Director of Code Enforcement Mike Tenkate, Ric VanDonsel (acting Zoning Officer) Minutes of March 10, 2020: Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Barnes Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Item #1 – 3 Groton Ave. (Robinson)  Signage This is a new Jewelry Store going in on Main St. The Chair, Linda emailed the commission additional pictures of the project. The outside of the store has been painted to match the front of the building that was just painted. The new sign will be laminate with digital print and will be 36”x96”. No additional lighting will be required. Motion to approve as presented. Motion by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm. Murphy Approved: Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 New Business/Old Business: 70 Tompkins St. has a back entrance/porch area and they would like to put up an entry wall and a door to enclose it to help with noise. They will use the same wood shingles that exist on the body of the house and paint the area to match the house. The commission agreed that this was a maintenance issue and it did not need to come in front of the board. Minutes of July 14, 2020 meeting City of Cortland - Historic/Architectural Board 89 Main St. has a new business that has been contacted. He has moved locations and has been in front of the board in the past. He will be submitting his proposal for August meeting. 39 Tompkins St. has to replace the front porch as it has become unsafe. There are no changes to the porch and will be as it was with the same colors and design. The owner would like to replace the windows as well and they too will be the same as they were. They would also like to re-roof the front and back porches using the same roof tile they used on the main roof that was approved by the Historic Commission. The commission agreed that this is a maintenance issue and did not need to come before the board. DP Dough signage is going to be the same as the old business sign but with a new name. It will be free floating individual letters in black placed on the sign board above the business. Mr. Scanlan & Linda spoke regarding process and with the future tenants, he now knows where to direct them. The murals that have been mentioned to go on Main Street need to come before Historic Commission. Adjournment: Motioned by: Comm. Dineen Seconded by: Comm.
