City of Cortland – Zoning Board of Appeals Zoning Board of Appeals City of Cortland Regular meeting of May 10, 2021 A regular meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals was held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 5:30 PM via Zoom. Present: Commissioners Scott Steve, Brett Barnes, Abigail Cleary, Juliene Ray, Karen Leahy, Tom Larson Excused: Commissioner Maria Manning Staff: ZEO Bob Rhea, Interim Director of Code Enforcement Mike Tenkate, Secretary Devon Rainbow Item #1 – 229 Tompkins St. (Reeners) – Area Variance  Fence height  Set back Jim Reeners was present for the meeting. He is requesting a 5’ high x 200’ of open fencing and hedge for privacy and security. This will be rentals for 55 years of age and older. There will be 5, 6 unit housing for a total of 30 units 1800-2300sqft. They are requesting to move some buildings back on the eastern side 30ft. The setback is going from 40’ to 70’. There is consideration of putting in a sidewalk just not at this time due to financials. Motion to close the public hearing. Motion: Comm. Larson Second: Comm. Barnes Second: Comm. Cleary Approved: Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 New/old business: There is an on-line training session Tuesday April 11 at 6PM. This will count towards the required training for the board.
