PLANNING COMMISSION

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Council Chambers – 1300 First Street October 6th, 2025 at 6:00 PM 1. CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Mike Brown, Judi Lohr, John Mendoza, Bryan Gish, Janelle Martin Commissioner Jeff Bordin joined via video call. Commissioners Absent: Stephanie Johannesen; excused. Others: Building Inspector Bill Sidor and Mayor Springer Vice-Chair Lohr motioned to approve the Planning Commission Minutes from September 8th, 2025, Commissioner Mendoza seconded. Motion passed. 2. OLD BUSINESS A. Mission/Vision Statement: Commissioner Bordin presented the Mission/Vision Statement he created for the Planning Commission. (Attached on Page 2) Commissioner Martin had questions regarding the Ordinance the City already has for the Planning Commission and how that differs from the Mission/Vision Statement. Chair Brown gives further information in relation to this. Vice-Chair Lohr motioned to approve the Mission/Vision Statement for the Planning Commission, Commissioner Mendoza seconded. 3. NEW BUSINESS A. Update on Parks Plan: Mayor Springer states she has been working on the edits, but we are needing the Park Committee involvement. There are 3 members as of right now and we are looking for more to get involved. She gives a brief update on the importance of the Comprehensive Plan, potential for GHCOG to help get this plan updated. The goal is to have this completed by the end of this year or early next year, we continue working on applying for Grants to aid in the costs of this. Vice-Chair Lohr asks if Vickie with GHCOG could look at the plan before they begin edits to figure out what all needs to be updated. Chair Brown asks if there is a way to get an editable version of the plan so they can read through and add their edits. Chair Brown also asks if the Planning Commission will be focusing on the Parks Plan or if this will be passed on to the Parks Committee. Mayor states this will be passed along then brought before Planning Commission for review before going before Council for approval.  Chair Brown motioned to adjourn the meeting, Commissioner Mendoza seconded.
