PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Council Chambers – 1300 First Street September 8th, 2025 at 6:00 PM 1. CALL TO ORDER - ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Mike Brown, Judi Lohr, John Mendoza, Stephanie Johannesen, Bryan Gish, Janelle Martin Commissioner Jeff Bordin joined via video call. Others: Building Inspector Bill Sidor Vice-Chair Lohr motioned to approve the Planning Commission Minutes from July 7th, 2025, Commissioner Mendoza seconded. Motion passed. 2. OLD BUSINESS A. City Aesthetic Review – Vice Chair Judi Lohr spoke on Vancouver, WA being similar to us and that could work for our city with edits. There was discussion between Building inspector Bill Sidor, Commissioner Martin and Chair Mike Brown about waterfront areas in parts of Aberdeen. Chair Brown stated that with the Daniels’ new project we will learn a lot. Commissioner Bordin asked what happens if this project does not follow the plan, Building Inspector Bill Sidor explained he would be the person handling this if this issue arises. B. City Comprehensive Plan – Chair Mike Brown stated the last Comprehensive Plan that was approved is from the 70s. Building inspector Bill Sidor says he misspoke at the last meeting and that the Planning Commission are the ones who do this plan, not him. There is possible grant funding through the state that he is looking into. Commissioner Bordin states he did not see actual studies; it was more like a wish list of what the city wants to see in the future. Mr. Sidor explains that most comprehensive plans are a wish list and plans for the city. Further discussion amongst all board members and Bill Sidor into financial strains of the city and how to navigate creating this plan with said strains. Talks of Grant opportunities and needing actual fiscal data before moving forward. Chair Mike Brown tables moving forward with Comprehensive Planning until further information is gathered. 3. NEW BUSINESS – none Brief discussion regarding Mission/Vision statement. Vice Chair Lohr asked Commissioner Bordin if he could one together, he agreed. Vice Chair Lohr motioned to adjourn the meeting, Chair Brown seconded. Meeting Adjourned at 6:46PM
