CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Special Meeting MINUTES July 15, 2021 10:00 a.m. Via Videoconference Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Shay Nagarsheth and Commissioner Andrew Wetmore. Also present were Denise Janey, Chief Examiner; unidentified speaker (00:00:22 inaudible); Richard Thode, Fire Chief; Chip Daley, Fire Union President; Jeff Tomchik, Fire Uniom Vice President; Kevin Ford, Interim Fire Chief; and Lieutenant Joseph Stabile,. Fire Fighter Pat Heron – Fire Department, Nelly Espinal, HR Assistant Minutes: Review and accept previous meeting’s minutes Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to accept the previous meeting's minutes. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: New Hires: None Retirements: None Resignations: None New Business: Fire Department – Appeals - Fire Captain Lieutenant. Stabile discussed how classes were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fire Chief Thode concurs with Mr. Stabile regarding the cancellation of classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Commissioner Wetmore expressed concern allowing Lieutenat Stabile to take the exam without meeting the minimum requirements. Chair Nagarsheth noted the prerequisite must be met to qualify for the position.  Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to deny the appeal. Motion carried unanimously. - Fire Lieutenant Mr. Heren apologized for submitting a blank application. Chair Nagarsheth encouraged applicants to review their application to insure all supporting documents are attached. Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to approve the appeal. Motion carried unanimously. Adjourn Motion by Commissioner Wetmore, seconded by Chair Nagarsheth, to adjourn.
