CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES SEPTEMBER 20, 2023 11:30 A.M. Via Videoconference (ZOOM) Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Chair Susan Ward; also present were Commissioner Rick Rogers, Chief Examiner Nelly Espinal, Director of Human Resources Ginny Werner, HR Assistant Aleyda Martinez and Fire Chief Rich Thode. Minutes: Meetings August 23rd, 2023, Special Mtg. August 28th, 2023 and September 12th, 2023. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the meeting minutes dated August 23rd, August 28th and September 12th, 2023. Motion carried unanimously. Personnel Status: None New Business: Qualification of Applications: Deputy Fire Marshal Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to reject the following applicants for the position of Deputy Fire Marshal, 49376447, 54158992, 9454922 and 42236232; all other applicants for the position of Deputy Fire Marshal were accepted; 31537172, 4765485, 55093474, 32541803, 16711077, 54966793, 54932758, 54931564, 13909745, 49876577, 5492183 and 55139601. Motion carried unanimously. Qualification of Applications: Mechanic Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to accept the following applications: 27859578 and 5266725 and to reject applicant 55017263. Motion carried unanimously. Motion made by Commissioner Rogers and seconded by Chair Ward to add an item to the agenda. Motion carried unanimously. Upcoming Fire Captain Announcement: Acknowledgement that due to the recent expiration of the Line Captain eligibility list on August 11th, 2023 and upon the expiration of the Administrative Fire Captain eligibility list on October 5th, 2023, a single, comprehensive Promotional Examination for the position of Fire Captain will be posted. In accordance with the MOA between Local 801 and The City of Danbury dated May 31st, 2022, one eligibility list shall be issued and utilized to fill vacancies for all Captain positions within the Fire Department. Acknowledgement of Grant Compliance Coordinator Position Motion made by Commissioner Rogers, seconded by Chair Ward to acknowledge and add the Grant Compliance Coordinator position into the Civil Service Job Classification.
