RICHTER PARK AUTHORITY MEETING MINUTES Richter Park Authority Office Tuesday, September 20, 2022, 6:00 PM In compliance with Connecticut General Statute § 1-225, these minutes are being provided for informational purposes and are subject to approval of the Richter Park Authority Board of Directors at its next regular meeting. Chairman Pete Siecienski opened the meeting at 6:03 PM. Members present: George Radachowsky, John Priola, Leroy Diggs, Al Mead, Bob Eberhard, Judy Griemsmann and Pam St. Pierre. Ms. St. Pierre will replace Mr. Lajoie for tonight’s meeting. Also present: Jonathan Pinto, Head Golf Professional, Rob Dorsch, Golf Course Superintendent and Bobby Bria, Musicals at Richter. Public participation None. Approve minutes of previous meetings Mr. Mead made a motion to approve the minutes from the August RPA meeting, the Contract Committee meeting on 8/29/22 and the Special RPA meeting on 9/7/22. Mr. Priola seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Mr. Diggs made a motion to approve the minutes from the 8/30/22 Finance Committee meeting. Mr. Priola seconded. Mr. Eberhard, Mr. Mead and Ms. Griemsmann abstained. Motion passed unanimously. Correspondence None. Arts Association Jill Kuhn asked about the boiler update in the Richter House. Mr. Siecienski said that he will give an update on it later in the meeting. The Berkshire Band was cancelled due to rain. The 50th Anniversary event was great and there was good public feedback received. Musicals at Richter Bobby Bria was elected as Executive Director for his 8th year at MAR. They have started looking at the 2023 season. Mary Nimer is interested in helping with fundraising. MPC-Richter House The 50th Anniversary celebration of Richter Park was very successful! FORe There was a meeting last week and it was determined that there will not be a fundraising breakfast in the fall. Also, the new sign at Richter Park is beautiful. Business Manager’s Report This is a busy month for outings. Review employee health insurance updates. Head Golf Professional August was an outstanding month for rounds, with just under 7100. We are just 2000 rounds behind 2021, but have made $35k more in revenue. Grounds and Greens We have only had 6” of rain since the last RPA meeting, and the reservoir is still low. We are down around 12” of rain from normal. Also, we are getting ready for leaf season. Golfweek ranked Richter Park #9 in Connecticut golf courses for 2022. Financial report We are in a healthy position compared to last year. Mr. Mead asked about making improvements in the Pro Shop, which will be directed to the Facilities Committee. Mr. Mead made a motion to place the financial report on file. Mr. Eberhard seconded. Motion passed unanimously. Finance Committee Report Mr. Diggs stated that we will continue with Oxford for employee health insurance for the 2022-23 renewal. Old business Mr. Siecienski and Mr. Radachowsky met with John Kleinhans with the City last week. The Richter House steam boiler was discussed. The cost will be $70K to replace it, and the City will not be able to assist with a replacement until at least the end of 2022. Also, the slate on the Richter House walkway needs to be re- purposed. The Richter House septic system and parking was also discussed. The Employee Contract Committee has recommended that the Golf Professional goes back to being the Director of Golf and Operations. Mr. Mead made a motion to accept the Committee’s recommendation to change Mr. Pinto’s title to Director of Golf and Operations effective January 1, 2023. Mr. Priola seconded. Mr. Radachowsky opposed. Motion passed unanimously. New business None. Chairman’s Comments/Report The 50th Anniversary event was good! It is sad that the FORe fundraising breakfast isn’t happening. Mr. Radachowsky will speak with the former RPA member about the issue previously discussed. Executive Session None. Mr. Mead made a motion to adjourn at 7:20 pm. Mr. Priola seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
