Dave Koenig-Town Chair, George Dorn – Town Supervisor, & Rich Haag-Town Supervisor
Attendance: Angie Volkman (clerk), Jana Nolden (treasurer), Mary Jo Bell (DeForest), Quentin (Waunakee),
Sydney Bell & Cade Hansen (Brandon SD), and Kendra Tutsch (resident).
1. Call meeting to order-The Town of Dane was called to order at 6:30pm by Dave Koenig, Town Chair.
2. Agenda Confirmation. Agenda ok’d – no changes requested from the Board.
3. Minutes from previous meeting: September 9, 2024. Motion by Koenig, second by Dorn to approve the
minutes from 9/9/24. Motion carried unanimously.
4. Treasurer’s report will be presented. Motion Dorn, second by Haag to accept the treasurer’s report as
presented and read. Motion carried unanimously.
5. Public Input: No Action. None
6. EMS Report. Haag informed the Board that Lodi EMS did not hold a meeting. He also reported that
Waunakee EMS held their meeting on 09/12/2024, where it was discussed that the budget numbers for
the Town might decrease. They are currently reviewing the EMS Supplement Payment Program, as well
as the bills and approved expenditures statement.
7. Recycling Committee Report. Haag updated the Board that the Transfer Site is staying busy. He also
mentioned that the site is well-organized, with minimal items left outside the containers. Haag suggested
installing panels on the gate and noted that the area well mowed.
8. Election. Kendra informed the Board that getting ready and prepared for the General Election in
November is going fine. We currently have about 70 absentee requests. Also noted that she will be
putting up the election booths for in-person absentee voting which starts 10/22/2024 and ends
11/3/2024. The Town of Dane is appoint only for absentee voting in person. Kendra is going to notify our
Deputy for the Town about ensuring that the speed board gets put up for the Election.
a. Appoint Barb Taylor & Julie Dresen Town of Dane Election Inspectors (poll workers) for 2024-
2025. Motion by Koenig, second by Haag to appoint Barb Taylor & Julie Dresen as Town of
Dane Election Inspectors for 2024-2025. Motion carried unanimously.
9. Fire District Report. Dorn reported that at the Fire District meeting they signed a grant for $4,000 as well
as paid the bills. They also started working on the budget and noted that an increase for the
municipalities is probable.
10. Public Works:
a. Ditches. Koenig informed the Board that we will not pay until the work is finished.
b. Blacktopping & Culverts. Koenig reported that both Tri-County & United submitted bids for
blacktopping with Tri-County coming in the lowest. Motion by Haag, second by Dorn to approve
Tri-County to perform the work for the Town of Dane. Motion carried unanimously. Koenig
discussed that Western quoted $15,454 for the culvert on Stewart Rd. Motion by Dorn, second
by Haag to go ahead with Western for Stewart Rd. Motion carried unanimously.
c. Right of Way Letter. Koenig told the Board that he will draft up a preliminary Right of Way letter
and bring it back for revisions and possible approval.
11. Goeden Farm Certified Survey and Rezone. Motion by Koenig, second by Haag to approve Certified
Survey and Rezone. Motion carried unanimously.
12. Matt and Tracy Jesse Building Permit. Koenig spoke to Dane County and the Town cannot make a decision
until formal submission for the zoning permit on Sam Rd.
13. Stewart Rd Culvert Update. This item was discussed already during the Public Works Report.
14. Discussion and possible action on increasing the building permit fees with SAFEbuilt. Town of Dane has
not increased fee since 2018. Angie provided the Town with what we currently charge for permits along
with what SAFEbuilt is proposing for potential increase permits. Haag would like to see inground
swimming pools be added as a permit for the Town of Dane and also would like to compare the increases
to other municipalities. We will bring this agenda item back to the next meeting to discuss.
15. 2025 Budget Worknight: Monday October 14 @ 5:30 pm. Confirmed.
16. Correspondence to be presented: No Action - None
17. Bills to be paid. Motion by Koenig, second by Haag to pay the bills. Motion carried unanimously.
18. Set next meeting date: November 4, 2024. Due to the 2024 General Election, the Town of Dane board
meeting is being moved to 11/11/2024 vs. 11/4/2024.
19. Adjourn. Motion by Dorn, second by Haag to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
