CITY OF DARLINGTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS REORGANIZATIONAL MEETING APRIL 15, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 6:50 PM. Present at roll call were: John Sonsalla, Steve Pickett, Kerry Black, Joe Boll, Cindy Corley, and Dave Roelli. Absent: None. Also present were: Aaron Stauffacher, Amy Johnson, Jeff McCarthy, Amber McComish, Jason Cullen, John and Christine Virtue, Amber Welp, Jason Furman, Cale Jackson, Gretchen Jackson, Candi Fitzsimons, Karina Corona, and Abby McKillip. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Pickett, that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Attorney Aaron Stauffacher then administered the Oath of Office to recently elected Alderpersons at this meeting. At the April 1, 2025, Spring Election, Cindy Corley was elected Alderperson, First Aldermanic District; Dave Roelli was elected Alderperson, Second Aldermanic District; and John Sonsalla was elected Alderperson, Third Aldermanic District. Mayor McDermott then asked for nominations for Council President. Motion by Black, seconded by Boll, to nominate and elect Dave Roelli as Council President. Roelli abstained. Motion carried. Discussion was then held concerning the designation of the official newspaper for the City. After discussion and consideration, motion by Pickett, seconded by Sonsalla, to designate the Republican Journal as the official newspaper for the City of Darlington. Motion carried. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Pickett, to designate the following banks, depositories, and investment institutions for deposit of City funds: Bank of New Glarus, Woodford State Bank – Darlington; Apple River State Bank; State of Wisconsin Local Government Investment Pool; and Wayne Hummer and Co. Inc., for investment in U.S. Treasury Securities. Motion carried. Discussion was then held concerning the Mayor’s appointment of committees, commissions and boards. A copy of the list of the Mayor’s appointments was included in the agenda packet. After review and consideration, motion by Sonsalla, seconded by Roelli, to accept and approve the Mayor’s appointment of committees, commissions and boards as presented. Motion carried. A copy of the approved committee appointments is attached to these meeting minutes for reference. Mayor McDermott then reported on current projects for new Council members. He stated the Louisa Street/Highway 81 project was underway by the Department of Transportation.
