CITY OF DARLINGTON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS MAY 5, 2026 The meeting was called to order by Mayor Roelli at 7:00 PM. Present at roll call were: Kerry Black, Kevin Andrews, Joe Boll, Cindy Corley, and John Sonsalla. Absent: None. Also present were: Attorney Jacob Gardner, Matt Pivit with Republic Services, Jeff McCarthy, Steve Pickett, and Amy Johnson. Motion by Boll, seconded by Black, the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Motion by Sonsalla, seconded by Black, to approve the minutes of previous meetings. Motion carried. Under comments from citizens present, Matt Pivit of Republic Services introduced himself and Republic Services. Republic Services purchased Faherty, Inc. and now serves the City of Darlington for garbage and recycling services. Under new business, Mayor Dave Roelli recommended appointing Steve Pickett to fill the vacant one-year Alderperson, Second Aldermanic District term created by his recent election as Mayor. Motion by Black, seconded by Sonsalla, to approve the Mayor’s recommendation to appoint Steve Pickett to fill the vacancy and serve the one-year term remaining. Motion carried. Attorney Jacob Gardner administered the Oath of Office to Steve Pickett. Discussion was then held concerning the Mayor’s appointment of committees, commissions, and boards. A copy of the list of the Mayor’s appointments was included in the agenda packet. After review and consideration, motion by Pickett, seconded by Corley, to accept and approve the Mayor’s appointment of committees, commissions, and boards as presented. Motion carried. Discussion was also held concerning proposed Resolution 2026-09, A Preliminary Resolution to Discontinue a Portion of Washington Street located on the Original Plat in the City of Darlington, Pursuant to Section 66.1003(4) Wis. Stats. A copy of the proposed resolution was included in the agenda packet. After discussion and consideration, motion by Boll, seconded by Pickett, to approve Resolution 2026-09, A Preliminary Resolution to Discontinue a Portion of Washington Street located on the Original Plat in the City of Darlington, Pursuant to Section 66.1003(4) Wis. Stats. as presented. Motion carried. Motion by Corley, seconded by Black, to approve the following April 2026 vouchers: City ACH Vouchers #426 thru #440 in the amount of $90,162.11; City vouchers #47516 thru #47600 in the amount of $90,865.79; Direct Deposit Payroll vouchers #16126 thru #16201 in the amount of $74,465.79; Library vouchers #6559 thru #6566 in the amount of $1,429.32; Library ACH voucher #23 in the amount of $2,837.85; Sewer Dept. ACH voucher #40 thru #42 in the amount of $164,101.95; Sewer Dept. vouchers #8427 thru #8443 in the amount of $19,847.04; Water Dept. ACH voucher #57 thru #59 in the amount of $87,393.15; Water Dept. vouchers #7827 thru #7842 in the amount of $35,450.95. Motion carried. Under reports of Committees, Alderperson Boll reported on the Park and Recreation Commission meeting held on April 29, 2026.
