COMBINED MEETING OF THE FINANCE AND PERSONNEL
COMMITTEE AND POLICE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 17, 2024
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mike McDermott at 6:00 PM. Present at roll
call were: Mayor McDermott, Dave Roelli, John Sonsalla, Steve Pickett, Kerry Black, and Joe
Boll. Absent: Cindy Corley. Also present were: Amy Johnson, Szvon Conway, and Nick Mantsch.
Motion by Roelli, second by Pickett that the meeting notice and agenda were properly
posted. Motion carried. Motion by Pickett, second by Sonsalla to approve the minutes of the
previous meeting. Motion carried.
Under new business, motion by Roelli, second by Sonsalla to go into closed session in
accordance with Section 19.85 (1) (c) Wis. Stats., to interview candidates for the full-time Police
Officer position; and if appropriate recommend the hiring of this applicant for the position. Roll
Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.
Motion by Roelli, second by Sonsalla t to reconvene to regular session in accordance with
Section 19.85 (2) Wis. Stats., to recommend an applicant for the full-time Police Officer position
to the City Council for approval; and adjourn. Roll Call Vote: All Ayes. Motion carried.
After discussion and consideration, motion by Black, second by Boll to recommend to the
Council the hiring of Mitchell Long for the full-time Police Officer position. Motion carried.
There being no further business for this meeting, motion by Roelli, second by Pickett to
adjourn the meeting at 6:53 PM. Motion carried.

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE AND THE POLICE COMMITTEE OF THE
COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DARLINGTON TO BE HELD
ON TUESDAY THE 17th DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2024 AT 6:00 PM;
WHICH MEETING IS TO BE HELD IN THE COUNCIL ROOM AT THE
DARLINGTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING, DARLINGTON, WISCONSIN
1. Call to order by presiding officer.
2. Roll call.
3. Motion that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted.
4. Approve the minutes of the previous meeting, rectifying mistakes if any exist. (Copy
enclosed)
5. Reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations of citizens present.
6. Unfinished or deferred business from previous committee meetings.
7. New business. Including but not limited to the introduction of Ordinances and
Resolutions.
The Committee will go into closed session in accordance with Section 19.85 (1) (c) Wis.
Stats., to interview candidates for the vacant full-time Police Officer position; and if
appropriate select an applicant for the position.
The Committee will reconvene to regular session in accordance with Section 19.85 (2)
Wis. Stats., to recommend an applicant if appropriate, for the full-time Police Officer
position to the City Council for approval; and adjourn the meeting.
8. Adjourn the meeting.
