FINANCE AND PERSONNEL COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 26, 2026
The meeting was called to order by Mayor McDermott at 6:00 PM. Present at roll call
were: Kerry Black, Mayor McDermott, Dave Roelli, and Steve Pickett. Absent: None. Also
present were: Joe Boll, Cindy Corley, John Sonsalla, Jeff McCarthy, and Amy Johnson.
Motion by Pickett, seconded by Black, that the meeting notice and agenda were properly
posted. Motion carried.
Under new business, discussion was held concerning the salary range for the Director of
Public Works position. After discussion and consideration, motion by Roelli, seconded by Black,
to approve the salary range of $85,000.00 - $100,000.00. Motion carried.
Discussion was then held concerning the request to advertise for the Director of Public
Works position. A copy of the ad was included in the agenda packet. The ad would be placed in
the Republican Journal, League of WI Municipalities, Wisconsin Rural Water Association, and on
Indeed. After discussion, motion by Roelli, seconded by Black, to approve the advertisement with
the addition that the Director must respond to the City within 20 minutes for emergencies. Motion
carried.
Motion by Roelli, seconded by Pickett, to go into closed session in accordance with Section 19.85
(1)(c), considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any
public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
Roll call vote: All Ayes.
Motion by Pickett, seconded by Black, to reconvene to regular session in accordance with Section
19.85 (2) Wis. Stats. to take possible action regarding employment, promotion, compensation, or
performance evaluation data of a public employee, and to adjourn the meeting. Roll call vote: All
Ayes.
After discussion and consideration, motion by Black, seconded by Pickett, to approve the
interim director pay for Public Works employee, Jeff McCarthy, in the amount of $41.56 an hour
until the position is filled. Motion carried.
There being no further business for this meeting, motion by Roelli, seconded by Pickett, to
adjourn the meeting at 6:25 PM.

OF MARCH, 2026, AT 6:00 PM; WHICH MEETING IS TO BE HELD IN
THE COUNCIL ROOM AT THE DARLINGTON MUNICIPAL BUILDING,
DARLINGTON, WISCONSIN
1. Call to order by presiding officer.
2. Roll call.
3. Motion that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted.
5. Reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations of citizens present.
6. Unfinished or deferred business from previous committee meetings.
7. New business. Including but not limited to the introduction of Ordinances and
Resolutions.
(a) Discussion and action if necessary, concerning the salary range for the Director of Public
Works position.
(b) Discussion and action if necessary, concerning a request to advertise for the Director of
Public Works position.
The Finance & Personnel Committee will go into closed session in accordance with Section 19.85
(1)(c), considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any
public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
The Finance & Personnel Committee will reconvene to regular session in accordance with Section
19.85 (2) Wis. Stats. to take possible action regarding employment, promotion, compensation, or
performance evaluation data of a public employee, and to adjourn the meeting.
8. Adjourn the meeting.
