Johnson Public Library Board of Directors Meeting October 2024 Meeting Held: October 21, 2024 6:30PM 1. Call to Order: By President Alex Santacruz at 6:32PM 2. Roll Call: Candi Fitzsimons, Cindy Corley, Sonja Wiegel, Matt Walter, Alex Santacruz, Patti Taylor, Shawn O’Brien, Carly Winslow 3. Motion Meeting notice and agenda were properly posted a. 1st Walter, 2nd Wiegel. Motion Carried 4. Approval of minutes from previous meeting a. 1st Corley, 2nd O’Brien. Motion Carried 5. Comments and suggestions from citizens or other parties a. None Present 6. Unfinished business a. Report on past library events i. Migratory bird day 1. Kim and Leona Havens presented and had fun activities for all ages. THANK YOU! ii. Human Services Puppet Show about feelings iii. Chad Lewis-Haunted Wisconsin 1. Roughly 25 people in attendance. iv. Tot Time at the Fire Station v. IT updates complete b. Report on community meeting and surveys i. 13 people at the community meeting ii. Board members received report to review before next meeting iii. Surveys out all over town and at the library 1. Approximately 105 completed online with an additional 20 paper surveys submitted at the library. iv. Last day for surveys is October 31st v. Goal is to have our report ready by the end of the year-January at the latest. c. Approval of the 2025 library budget  i. Already approved at September’s meeting ii. Successfully submitted and discussed with Mayor McDermott iii. Going to City Council for final approval this week 7. New business a. Notice of upcoming library events i. October 25th Library directors meeting, In Fennimore ii. October 30th 6pm-Black Hawk War presentation by Professor John Hall from the history department at UW-Madison. iii. October 31st Halloween-candy and activities for the kids iv. November 13th presentation and questions with author Michael Deeze v. November 14th 2pm-6pm-ADRC providing free memory screenings at the library vi. SWAL (South West Association of Libraries) Conference in Dodgeville vii. WLA (Wisonsin Library Association) Convention in Green Bay b. Discussion and possible action if necessary, concerning the library director annual review i. Yearly director review conducted by the board ii. We Will interview staff between November and December iii. Board will meet and discuss and review Candi’s self evaluation iv. Results of review will be filed v. Job description handed out to the board for review before next meeting c. Approve payments of vouchers #4589 through #4597 i. 1st Winslow, 2nd O’Brien. Motion Carried 8. Set next meeting and adjourn a. November 18th, 2024 at 6:30PM b. December 16th, 2024 at 6:30PM c. Adjourn: 1st Wiegel, 2nd Winslow. Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 7:03PM.
