Johnson Public Library Board of Directors Meeting, January 2025 Meeting Held: January 27, 2025 1. Call to Order: By President Alex Santacruz at 6:34 2. Roll Call: Candi Fitzsimons, Cindy Corley, Matt Walter, Alex Santacruz, Patti Taylor, Shawn O’Brien, and Carly Winslow. Missing: Sonja Wiegel 3. Motion Meeting notice and agenda were properly posted a. 1st Winslow, 2nd O’Brien. Motion Carried. 4. Approval of Minutes from previous meeting a. 1st Walter, 2nd Santacruz. Motion Carried 5. Comments and suggestions from citizens or other parties a. None Present 6. Unfinished Business a. Discussion regarding service e response draft and next steps for our strategic plan i. Revised the service responses to three main themes 1. Welcome & Celebrate Cultural Diversity 2. Stimulate Curiosity & Imagination 3. Understand How to find, evaluate, and use information fluently ii. Further details will be provided as how the library does and will continue to nuture these services. iii. Very close to being finished The board then went into closed session for the purpose of conducting our evaluation of Johnson Public Library director, Candi Fitzsimons for her annual review. This was completed under Wisconsin State Statute Section 19.85 (1) (c) Motion for closed session: Roll Call vote: Santacruz-yes, Taylor-yes, O’Brien-yes, Winslow-yes, Corley-yes, Walter-yes. We concluded our session with the same resulted roll call vote to come out of closed session and continue our regularly planned meeting. b. Past Library Events i. Puppeteer came and did session with kids on how to make puppets and put on a show  ii. New book clubs 1. Southwest Health clinic-Winter Wellness-roughly 8 people 2. Teacher Book club-roughly 20 people, and able to get hours credited for it 3. Church group started one as well-roughly 12 people iii. Story Hour and Tot Time continue to have good attendance iv. Candi attended Wild Wisconsin Winter Webinar-received CE hours. 7. New Business a. Upcoming Library Events i. January 28th-Janet is starting a Lego Club after school on Tuesdays- first day is. ii. Candi started working on the annual report-certain things have changed as far as requirements-working with Kim Winslow, Amy Johnson, and the southwest library teams to make sure it’s completed the way it needs to be iii. Kalee Crist is hosting an immigration meeting for the public in February iv. January 29th-Janet is hosting a Chinese new year celebration party for the kids v. February 5th-Adult show and tell where you can bring in your collections and show them off. vi. Candi on vacation in February. b. Discussion Concerning Donation i. Our dear friend, Lawrence Hardyman passed away on January 13th ii. The Hardyman Family suggested donations to the library in his memory iii. We will start brainstorming on what we may like to do in memory of Lawrence c. Approval of payment vouchers #4637 through #4657 i. 1st Winslow, 2nd Corley. Motion Carried. 8.
