CITY OF DARLINGTON WATER AND SEWER COMMITTEE MEETING PROCEEDINGS FEBRUARY 4, 2025 The meeting was called to order by Steve Pickett at 6:30 PM. Present at roll call were: Kerry Black, Cindy Corley, Dave Roelli, John Sonsalla, and Steve Pickett. Absent: Joe Boll. Also present were Mayor Mike McDermott, Jeff McCarthy, and Amy Johnson. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Corley, the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted. Motion carried. Motion by Roelli, seconded by Corley, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried. Under new business, discussion was held concerning the proposed discharge permit between the City of Darlington and Mexican Cheese Producers. The purpose of the discharge permit will be to charge any industrial business to help regulate the capacity of discharge into the public sanitary sewer system of the City of Darlington. It also outlines the surcharges for any discharge that exceeds the allowed waste effluent pollutant concentration that may be discharged into the public sanitary sewer system of the City of Darlington. After discussion and consideration, motion by Roelli, seconded by Sonsalla, to approve the use of the discharge permit. Motion carried. A brief discussion was then held concerning possible assistance to homeowners for lead service line replacements. Jeff McCarthy shared information about the mandated replacement of all lead service lines for all municipalities. The cost would be borne by the homeowner for this replacement. McCarthy shared what some municipalities did to aid homeowners with this project.
