Johnson Public Library Board of Directors Meeting Monday June 9, 2025 1. Call to order by President Alex Santacruz at 5:30 p.m 2. Roll Call- Cindy Corley, Sonja Wiegel, Matt Walter, Patti Taylor and Candi Fitzsimons. Absent Shawn O’Brien and Carly Winslow 3. Motion the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted- Motion by Sonja and seconded by Matt. Motion carried. 4. No previous meeting minutes to approve. 5. Comments and suggestions from citizens or other parties interested present- none 6. Unfinished business of the board from previous meeting- Candi resubmitted a letter to the City of Darlington stating she will be retiring no later than June 27, 2025 and date will be determined by the length of time it takes to train the new director. She thanked the city for the opportunity to be the director of the library for 12 years and a library aide prior to that for 5 years. 7. New business- Cindy asked about the flag outside. It will need to be replaced and was told to contact Al Hinderman. Pat Gallagher will be retiring as the children’s librarian. Discussion for a replacement will be held at the next library board meeting on Monday, June 23, 2025. 8. Closed session-The board did not go into closed session since a prior offer was made to applicant at the June 5, 2025 board meeting and accepted June 6, 2025. Motion made by Cindy Corley to recommend Janet Trout as the new library director to the city council with a salary of $21.69 per hour/ $45000.00 a year, plus benefits, 1 year of vacation after the first year and applicant will need to complete the Wisconsin Public Library Certification Course. 2nd by Patti Taylor. Roll call vote- Corley, Wiegel, Walter, Santacruz and Taylor all yes. The library director is a 40 hour per week position. 9. Motion to adjourn at 5:50 p.m by Sonja and seconded by Patti.
