POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND ORDINANCE
COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 19, 2024
The meeting was called to order by Committee Chairman Steve Pickett at 6:00 PM. Present
at roll call were: Joe Boll, Steve Pickett, Cindy Corley, and Kerry Black. Absent: None. Also
present were: Mayor Mike McDermott, Attorney Aaron Stauffacher, Dave Roelli, Jeff McCarthy,
Amy Johnson, and John Sonsalla.
Motion by Black, second by Boll that the meeting notice and agenda were properly posted.
Motion carried. Motion by Boll, second by Black to approve the minutes of the previous meeting.
Motion carried.
Under unfinished or deferred business, discussion was held concerning Chapter 13.08 of
the Municipal Code of the City of Darlington regarding junk, certain vehicles, recreational
equipment, and firewood. The committee would like to address the issue with residents parking in
their front yards. After discussion, the committee advised Attorney Stauffacher to draft ordinance
changes to address this issue and present it at the next meeting.
Discussion was then held concerning a social media policy for the City of Darlington. The
sample policy was included in the packet. Amy Johnson presented the sample policy. The City
office staff would like to create social media accounts for the City of Darlington to reach a larger
audience with important information about news and notices for the City. Several questions were
asked by those present. After discussion and consideration, it was the consensus to write a draft
policy for the City itself to include all City departments that already have social media accounts
for review at the next meeting.
Under new business, discussion was held concerning ordinance updates and changes
received from General Code. A review of some of the updates and changes was performed and will
need to be finished at another meeting.
There being no further business for this meeting, motion by Boll, second by Corley to
adjourn the meeting at 7:00 PM. Motion carried.

4. Approve the minutes of the previous meeting, rectifying mistakes if any exist. (Copy
enclosed)
5. Reports, comments, suggestions, and recommendations of citizens present. (3-minute
limit)
6. Unfinished or deferred business from previous committee meetings.
(a) Discussion and possible action concerning amending Chapter 13.08 of the
Municipal Code of the City of Darlington regarding junk, certain vehicles,
recreational equipment, and firewood.
(b) Discussion concerning a social media policy for the City of Darlington.
7. New business. Including but not limited to the introduction of Ordinances and
Resolutions.
(a) Discussion and action concerning Ordinance updates/changes from General Code.
8. Adjourn the meeting.
