APPROVED SUMMARY MINUTES SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD 10:00 A.M. February 3, 2016 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIRMAN DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIRMAN CITY STAFF DEE WILLIAMS KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Derby Senior Center Survey. Dee Williams stated there were over 400 surveys returned and Carol Townsend won the $50 gift card drawing. RE: Jennifer Keller. Dee Williams stated Jennifer Keller started as the new part time employee working at the senior center. RE: Donated Items. Dee Williams stated patrons are bringing items such as puzzles and books to the senior center. Dee stated this is not allowed. The senior center is not a collection facility and she asked the Board to discourage anyone they see bringing items into the center. RE: AARP Tax Help. Jim Burgess stated Thursday will be the start of the 2016 tax help year. Appointments are available at the Derby Senior Center all day Thursdays and Friday mornings. RE: Membership Fees. Jim Burgess stated the Downtown Senior Center is now charging a membership fee. Discussion was held. Dee Williams stated along with that membership there were additional benefits. RE: Applications for DSC Advisory Board positions. Jim Burgess asked Dee Williams if she had the applications for Board members to re-apply for their position. Dee stated she will be getting those soon. 1 RE: Madison Avenue Central Park /the Venue. Duane Day let the Board know he received an email invitation to the Grand Opening of Madison Avenue Central Park / the Venue on Tuesday March 9th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund report January 2016. Diane Schmitt gave the Advisory Board Fund report for January 2016. The deposits totaled $780.00, expenditures were $434.07 with an ending balance $13,728.30. MOTION: Duane Day moved to receive and file the Advisory Board Fund report for January 2016. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve January 2016 Advisory Board Meeting minutes. Jim Burgess stated there were a couple changes needed on the minutes. Agenda Item #1 RE: 2016 Board Appointments the last line expresses should be expressed. SHICK Help first line should read Jim Burgess stated two insurance companies representing Medicare Part D, Aetna and Wellcare have discrepancies in the prices they offered. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes from January 6th, 2016 with the changes. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve January 2016 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. Dee Williams gave the report for the January Derby Dash Scholarship Report. There was $20 used for scholarships in January, leaving an ending balance $679.00. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for January 2016. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #5 RE: Accreditation. 2 Dee Williams stated the Accreditation books have now been reviewed by Ted Austin and Jim Burgess. Dee let the Board know she hopes to mail it to the review committee by the 20th of February. Agenda Item #6 RE: January 2016 TNT. Tom Davidson stated they served Taco Salad with a total profit of $226.48 and fed 83 patrons. Agenda Item #7 RE: Cover Dish Lunch - Chicken. Kim Hart let Duane Day know he is the Board member in charge of picking up the chicken for the Cover Dish luncheon. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion for adjournment.
