APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD 10:00 AM January 4th, 2016 CITY OF DERBY ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIRMAN DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIRMAN CITY STAFF BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Ted Austin Update BreAnna Monk let the Board know that Patty Austin has been giving her updates on Ted Austin’s surgery recovery and he is making progress. BreAnna also let the Board know there is a Facebook page under Ted Austin’s Surgery Updates where the Board can follow his progress. RE: Budget. Jim Burgess asked BreAnna if the Board could have a copy of the current Senior Center budget. BreAnna said she will get these for the Board to be handed out at the next Board Meeting in February. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report December 2016 Diane Schmitt gave the Advisory Board Fund Report for December 2016. The expenses for December totaled $514.66 and the income was $2158.50 with an ending balance of $17,694.86. MOTION: Duane Day moved to approve and file the Advisory Board Fund Report for December 2016. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve December 7th, 2016 Advisory Board Meeting minutes 1 MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the minutes from the December 7th, 2016 Derby Senior Center Advisory Board meeting. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve December 2016 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna Monk gave the report for the December Derby Dash Scholarship Report. There was $24 used in scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $463. MOTION: Janice Neagle made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for December. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: Covered Dish Diane Schmitt will pick up the chicken for the January 5th, 2017 Covered Dish Lunch. Gerald Brownlee will pick up the chicken for the February 2nd, 2017 Covered Dish Lunch. Agenda Item #6 RE: November 2016 TNT & December 2016 TNT BreAnna Monk stated the November TNT was Ham & Beans with a total profit of $181.62. BreAnna stated the December TNT was Ham & Corn Casserole with a total profit of 154.51. Discussion was held and it was decided to leave the TNT on the second Tuesday of the month for the next 3 months to see how well it is attended. Agenda Item #7 RE: Fund Raising Update BreAnna Monk stated approximately $7,906.75 has been donated to date towards the fund raising letter. BreAnna stated the Derby Community Foundation has approved the Grant for the Derby Senior Center in the amount of $500 which will be deposited in the Fund Raising total. The $2,500 Grant from Walmart will also be deposited to the Fund Raising total. BreAnna invited the Board to be in the photo that will be taken receiving the check from the Derby Community Foundation. BreAnna stated at the same time a picture will be taken receiving the check from Walmart. The photos will be taken January 9th, Monday at 3:00 pm. 2 Agenda Item #8 RE: Cornerstone Committee BreAnna let the Board know the Cornerstone committee will meet January 11th at 10:00 am. The committee will meet to discuss all the items the senior center needs for updates and how to spend the funds. BreAnna said she will be bringing their ideas to the Board at the February Advisory Board Meeting. BreAnna said she would like the Boards input and approval on the larger purchases. Agenda Item #9 RE: Appointment Terms BreAnna let the Board know there are four Board members whose terms will be up in 2017. Those members are Gerald Brownlee, Tom Davidson, Duane Day and Janice Neagle. She asked if these members would like to continue with their positions on the Board. BreAnna said if they do they will need to complete a new application which will be available at the February or March Board meetings. Discussion was held and all four Board members agreed to continue their position. Agenda Item #10 RE: Homestead Senior Living BreAnna Monk handed out a copy of the letter to Homestead Senior Living to give the approval of the Board. Members read and approved the letter. Eleanor Underwood, Chairman signed and dated the letter. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to sign the letter as presented to Homestead Senior Living. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion for adjournment. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried.
