APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY June 13, 2018, 10:05 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE - ABSENT JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF TED AUSTIN - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART - ABSENT Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Meals on Wheels BreAnna stated she is going to add the Meals on Wheels in her comments in BreAnna’s corner. RE: Senior Center Funding Jim Burgess gave the dates for the next county meetings for Senior Center support. July 25 th is the 1st public budget hearing meeting at 9:00am. Jim said he will be making a proposal during this meeting. The 2nd hearing will be on August 9th at 6pm and the final hearing will be August 15th at 9:00am. These hearings will be located at the County Commission Chamber at the County Courthouse, 2nd floor. RE: Homestead Affordable Housing Duane Day passed out a sheet he was given with the latest income limits and rental rates for Homestead Affordable Housing. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report May 2018. Duane Day gave the report for May 2018. The expenses for May totaled $723.68 and the revenue totaled $265 with an ending balance $13,802.89. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report May 2018. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried 1 Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve May 2nd, 2018 Minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the May 2nd, 2018 Minutes. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve May 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna Monk gave the May 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $24 were used for scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $251. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for May 2018. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna Monk gave the TNT report and menu for May 2018, the meal was Spaghetti Bake and there was a total of 57 served. There was a total profit of 173.81. BreAnna Monk gave the TNT report and menu for June 2018, the meal was Cheesy Beef Nacho Bake and there was a total of 59 served. There was a total profit of 133.95. BreAnna let the Board know that Kay Morgan asked to cancel the September TNT. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to cancel the September TNT. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Comment Cards BreAnna Monk read the Comment Cards for May to the Advisory Board. Discussion was held. 2 Agenda Item #7 RE: Covered Dish Tom Davidson will pick up chicken for the July 5th Covered Dish. Janice Neagle will pick up chicken for the August 2nd Covered Dish. Agenda Item #8 RE: Center Updates BreAnna said she has been working on getting the Garden Club up and running. She said she will speak about this more under Agenda Item #10. Agenda Item #9 RE: Can We Talk – AARP Care Act BreAnna Monk said this AARP will be here to talk about the Care Act on Thursday June 14th at 6:00pm. Agenda Item #10 RE: Garden Club BreAnna Monk let the Board know the DSC has six raised plots in the community garden. BreAnna said the club has joined the Generosity Challenge because of the Senior Nutrition. The 6 members have been working the garden and tomatoes and peppers are on the vine already. The produce will be distributed on the same day as Panera Bread. Agenda Item #11 RE: Bingo Update BreAnna Monk said she has the new bingo wheel and board with quick release. Progressive Bingo the last Thursday of the month. BreAnna explained the progressive bingo rules. BreAnna asked if the Board would be willing to sponsor the first Bingo with a $300 donation. Concessions at the Bingo will be donated to the Board. MOTION: Janice Neagle made a motion to donate $300 for Progressive Bingo. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, 1 nay, motion carried 3 Agenda Item #12 RE: July Advisory Board Meeting BreAnna Monk let the Board know the July Advisory Board meeting will fall on July 4th so she suggested it be moved to the next week on July 11th MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion the July 2018 Advisory Board Meeting be moved to July 11th. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #13 RE: Election of DSC Advisory Board Officers BreAnna stated the following are current officers; Eleanor Underwood is Chairperson, Duane Day is Vice Chairperson, Tom Davidson is Secretary, Diane Schmidt is Treasurer. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to re-elect the continuing Officers by acclimation. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion for adjournment. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried.
