UNAPPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY October 10, 2018, 9:15 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF TED AUSTIN - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Food Handler Training BreAnna Monk said she spoke with the Sedgwick County Department of Health regarding Food Handler Training. The Wichita City Council repealed the ordinance for a need for Food Handler Training. Discussion was held and BreAnna let the Board know the Derby Senior Center will still require the on-line course for food handling at the center. The 20-minute course is free and can be taking on line at servefood.wichita.gov. Eleanor Underwood suggested Food Safety Reference Card be made to hand out at the center. Discussion was held. RE: Casey’s Donuts Duane Day let BreAnna and the Board know Casey’s will donate donuts for the Tuesday Bingo each month. Duane will pick them up and deliver them to the center. RE: Intercultural: Germany BreAnna reminded the Board about the Intercultural Germany program that will be at 4:00 pm and encourage the Board to attend. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report September 2018. Diane Schmitt gave the report for September 2018. The expenses for September totaled $219.01 and the revenue totaled $0 with an ending balance $9,519.73. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report September 2018. Duane Day seconded. 1 VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve September 12, 2018 Minutes. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the September 12, 2018 Minutes. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve September 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the September 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $24 were used for scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $155. BreAnna said the Derby Dash Lunch Scholarship Program used $0 for an ending balance of $494. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for September 2018. Gerald Brownlee seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna said TNT was Chili, Crackers, Baked Potato, Cinnamon Roll and expenses came to $182.59 and Total Profit was $136.41, paying patrons were 58 with 7 volunteers for a total of 65 fed. Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish November – Chicken – Tom Davidson Covered Dish December – Sliced Turkey and Slice Ham – Janice Neagle Jim Burgess stated he still wanted to be on the Covered Dish Chicken duty. Kim Hart said she will be creating a new list for January 2019 and will have that ready for the November Board Meeting. Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates 2 Wallpaper – BreAnna said the carpet on the walls in the Conference Room and the Game Room has now been removed and replaced with wallpaper. Agenda Item #8 RE: Can We Talk – Kan Care Ombudsman. BreAnna said Can We Talk is Thursday October 11th at 6 PM. The topic is the Kan Care Ombudsman. Agenda Item #9 RE: Progressive Bingo BreAnna let the board know the proceeds from the September Progressive Bingo concessions came to $64. Agenda Item #10 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna read the Suggestion/ Comment cards to the Advisory Board. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #11 RE: Fundraisers BreAnna asked the Advisory Board if they were interested in sending out a donation letter to the members. Discussion was held. The Advisory Board decided BreAnna would draft a letter and bring it to the November Advisory Board meeting for review. Agenda Item #12 RE: 2019 Budget BreAnna gave the Board members a copy of the 2019 Budget. Discussion was held MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approved the 2019 Budget. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried ADJOURNMENT 3 MOTION: Duane Day made a motion for adjournment. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried.
