UNAPPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY December 12, 2018, 9:15 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: DRC Walking Program Diane Schmitt asked BreAnna if the DRC had the Walking Program at this time. BreAnna explained it has never stopped but they are deciding about the inclement weather clause. To decide if it should be up to the temperature or the individual’s determination. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report November 2018. Diane Schmitt gave the report for November 2018. The expenses for October totaled $1,467.96 and the revenue totaled $301. with an ending balance $7,555.55. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report November 2018. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve November 14, 2018 Minutes. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the November 14, 2018 Minutes. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried 1 Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve November 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the November 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $20 for an ending balance of $474. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for November 2018. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna said TNT for December was canceled. BreAnna asked the Advisory Board if they wanted to move the January TNT due to it falling on the 2nd of January. Discussion was held. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to change the date of the January TNT to the 8th of January. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish December – Sliced Turkey and Sliced Ham – Janice Neagle Covered Dish January – Chicken – Jim Burgess RE: December Covered Dish Janice Neagle let BreAnna and the Board know that he heard several complaints about the Turkey and Ham that was provided at the Covered Dish Lunch. BreAnna said she was aware of the complaints and that every month other than December Fried Chicken will be served. Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates BreAnna said she has gotten City approval to put in a storage closet in the multi-purpose room. BreAnna said she planned on using Memorial Funds for this but wanted to let the Advisory Board know about the addition of storage space. 2 MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion for the addition of a storage space in the multi-purpose room. Duane day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried. Agenda Item #8 RE: Advisory Board Shirts BreAnna handed out Derby Senior Center shirts to the Advisory Board and thanked them for their service to the Derby Senior Center. Agenda Item #9 RE: Progressive Bingo BreAnna let the Board know the concessions made $45 at the November Progressive Bingo. BreAnna said there will be no Progressive Bingo in December. Discussion was held and Tom Davidson stated the Bingo balls need to be replaced because they are hard to read. It was decided to buy new balls. Agenda Item #10 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna read the suggestion / comment cards to the Board. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #11 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna said the cost for the postage of the letter came to $502.53 and the letter process came to $682.58. BreAnna let the Board know the donations are starting to come in. Agenda Item #12 RE: Aging Projects Inc / Meals on Wheels Jim Burgess made a motion for the Board to donate $200 to the Aging Projects Inc / Meals on Wheels Program towards their fundraising.
