APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY February 13th, 2019, 9:14 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR - ABSENT CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS – ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Kiel Mangus Deputy City Manager BreAnna Monk let the Advisory Board know that Kiel Mangus is the new Deputy City Manager. Kiel planned on attending the Board meeting but is out ill. Kiel has now taken over Ted Austin’s job duties and Ted will report to Kiel. RE: Senior Center and Transportation Annual Report BreAnna let the Advisory Board know that it is Annual Report season for the Senior Center and Transportation. BreAnna said the time to report is March 12th at the City Council meeting and she invited the Board members to the meeting. RE: Advisory Board Reappointments BreAnna said that there are four Board members up for reappointment in 2019. BreAnna asked if Gerald Brownlee, Tom Davidson, Duane Day and Janice Neagle would want to run for reappointment? Tom and Janice said they would like to be reappointed but Gerald said he did not want to continue on the Board. BreAnna Monk said she will speak with Duane Day to see if he would like to remain on the Board. RE: Active Age BreAnna said she received the Active Age donation letter asking for donations to continue to help fund them. BreAnna stated in the past the Board has donated $100. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion for the Advisory Board to donate $100 to The Active Age publication. Janice Neagle seconded. 1 VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report December 2018. Diane Schmitt gave the report for December 2018. The expenses for December totaled $1,427.79 and the revenue totaled $6,278. with an ending balance $12,605.76. MOTION: Janice Neagle made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report December 2018. Jim Burgess seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried RE: Tax Season Jim Burgess let the Advisory Board know Tax Season is coming soon. Jim said they have 4 tax preparers and they are trying to get a 5th person to review and expedite the process. RE: SHICK BreAnna let the Board know that there were 250 individuals and of those 139 were able to save on drug costs for 2019 for a total savings of $101,880. Jim said they usually save over 1 million dollars county wide. RE: TNT Diane Schmitt stated at the TNT they needed more volunteers to serve drinks and deliver meals. Diane said there were limited volunteers and some were told they were not needed. Diane said some were out eating with the Patrons. Discussion was held. BreAnna said she will stop in at next month’s TNT. Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve December 12, 2018 Minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the December 12, 2018 Minutes. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve December 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report 2 BreAnna gave the December 2018 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $132 for an ending balance of $342. There was a donation of $1,500 made to this scholarship fund for an ending balance of $1,842. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for December 2018. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to carry information from the January TNT to the February Advisory Board meeting. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish February – Chicken – Jim Burgess Covered Dish March – Chicken – Tom Davidson Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates BreAnna said the new storage closet in the Multi-purpose Room is complete. BreAnna asked the Board to go over and look at the very professional job. BreAnna said the closet will be organized soon. Agenda Item #8 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna said there were no suggestion / comment cards at this time. Agenda Item #9 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna said the Fundraising Letter is going well and as of today the total donations came to $6,295. 3 Agenda Item #10 RE: Organizational Chart BreAnna handed out a new City of Derby Organizational job duty chart to the Board members.
