APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY February 13th, 2019, 9:14 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR - ABSENT DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS – ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: The Active Age BreAnna Monk let the Advisory Board know she received a thank you for the donation the Board made to The Active Age Publication. RE: Tree Removal West Parking Lot BreAnna explained to the Advisory Board that the City is going to be removing the diseased trees on the West side of the back-parking lot Friday the 15th. BreAnna said they will be planting new trees. RE: Senior Center Car BreAnna said that the Senior Center vehicle has been moved to the Police Department. The Senior Center is slated to get a replacement in the future. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report January 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for January 2019. The expenses for January totaled $249.92 and the revenue totaled $1,310 with an ending balance $13,544.87. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report January 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried 1 Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve January 9th, 2019 Minutes. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the January 9, 2019 Minutes. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve January 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the January 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $130 with a $100 donation for an ending balance of $1,812. Jim Burgess suggested BreAnna check into the RSVP Transportation Program. Volunteers in this program transport seniors and liability insurance is provided under the program. BreAnna said she will check the City guidelines to see if there would be any conflicts with this. BreAnna said this could be a good topic for the Can We Talk Program. Jim also said this program is in place at the Clearwater Community Center. Discussion was held and BreAnna said she would have the Derby Dispatcher put more detail on the report. MOTION: Diane Schmitt made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for January 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna said the January TNT was Farmhouse Chicken with a profit of $112.11 serving 41 patrons and 5 volunteers. The February TNT was French Bread Casserole / Meatball Sandwiches and there was a profit of $52.94 serving 37 patrons and I volunteers. Discussion was held and it was suggested more signs be posted. Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish March – Chicken – Tom Davidson Covered Dish April – Chicken – Janice Neagle Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates 2 BreAnna said she ordered 3 new large Game Room tables. The tables are to replace the smaller worn tables. Agenda Item #8 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna read the suggestion / comment cards to the Board and discussion was held. BreAnna will be speaking with the exercise class since several cards mentioned loud talking during class. BreAnna also said she will have large signs made to say No Talking that will be posted on an easel during class and during Bingo. Agenda Item #9 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna said the Fundraising Letter is going well and as of today the total donations came to $6, 460. Agenda Item #10 RE: Senior Celebration BreAnna showed the Board a flyer for the Class of 2019 Derby Senior Celebration. BreAnna asked if the Board wanted to donate. Discussion was held. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion the Advisory Board donate $100 to the Class of 2019 Senior Celebration. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 4 yea, 1 Nay, motion carried ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to adjourn. Diane Schmitt seconded.
