APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY March 13th, 2019, 9:14 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS – ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Evening Volunteers Facilitators BreAnna Monk let the Advisory Board know the City is checking to see if volunteers who facilitate at evening events can be Board members or individuals other than staff. RE: Can We Talk / RSVP Drivers BreAnna explained to the Advisory Board that RSVP staff would like to give a talk about RSVP Drivers. The RSVP program would get seniors around without using the Derby Dash and would also be used for trips out of Derby. RE: Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna said she spoke to Sonya about the Derby Dash Scholarship Report and Sonya will break the report down to be a little more detailed. RE: No Talking Signs BreAnna told staff the signs are being made and these will be posted during exercise, bingo and presentations. RE: Quilters BreAnna stated the Derby Senior Center Quilters are doing an amazing job. They are providing quilts for Baby Showers and for the Sunflower Children’s Home. BreAnna said they are also making weighted blankets and the schools are providing the silicone pellets. RE: Advisory Board Applications 1 Gerald Brownlee asked BreAnna if she was receiving any applications for the Advisory Board position that is coming open. BreAnna said at this time they have received seven applications. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report February 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for February 2019. The expenses for February totaled $1,298.31 and the revenue totaled $350 with an ending balance $12,596.56. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report February 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve February 13, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Gerald Brownlee made a motion to approve the February 13, 2019 minutes. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve February 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the February 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $130 for an ending balance of $1,682. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for February 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna said the March TNT was cancelled. Discussion was held BreAnna said that she and Kay Morgan will be discussing the menus. BreAnna said the April TNT will be Pork Tenderloin. Agenda Item #6 2 RE: Covered Dish April – Chicken - Janice Neagle Covered Dish May – Chicken - Eleanor Underwood Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates BreAnna said the trees in the back-parking lot are being removed and will continue in the upcoming weeks. Agenda Item #8 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna stated there were no Suggestion / Comment cards at this time. Agenda Item #9 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna said the Fundraising Letter is going well and to date the total donations are $6,505. Discussion was held. Jim Burgess asked for a list of the individual donation amounts without the names of the donors, BreAnna said we can provide that at the next Advisory Board meeting. Agenda Item #10 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession report with the Board. Discussion was held and Tom Davidson suggested there be an additional report provided for the Progressive Bingo Proceeds. BreAnna said it will be provided at the next Advisory Board meeting.
