APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY April 10th, 2019, 9:14 AM ROLL CALL GERALD BROWNLEE - ABSENT JANICE NEAGLE JIM BURGESS DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: S.P.I.E.Y. BreAnna Monk gave the Advisory Board information about the S.P.I.E.Y. program. BreAnna also explained the purpose is to mentor the youth of tomorrow by bridging the older and younger generations. The participating schools are Cooper, Oaklawn and Pleasantview Elementary and they are already a part of the Pando Initiative. Pando will train the volunteers and there are handouts also. RE: 2019 Tax Assistant Jim Burgess let the Board know the AARP Tax Volunteers have assisted 409 individual clients and had 282 returns accepted. They will have more this week that are not in those figures. BreAnna thanked Jim and said she appreciates all of the Tax Volunteers. Jim asked for a total of the Tax Donations, BreAnna said that will be provided at the May Advisory Board meeting. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report March 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for March 2019. The expenses for March totaled $1,321.18 and the revenue totaled $371.80 with an ending balance $11,647.18. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report March 2019. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried 1 Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve March 13, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the March 13, 2019 minutes. Duane Day seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve March 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the March 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $50 for an ending balance of $1,632. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for March 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna gave the April TNT report. Discussion was held and the Board questioned the amount of the paid-out receipts. BreAnna stated she spoke with Kay Morgan and Kay decided the May TNT will be her last as the Facilitator. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to table the March 2019 TNT Report until the May Board meeting. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 5 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish Chicken May 2 –Eleanor Underwood Covered Dish Chicken June 6 – Jim Burgess Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates BreAnna said there was a new bench bought for outside of the fitness room and three new tables for the game room. 2 Agenda Item #8 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna stated there were no Suggestion / Comment cards at this time. Agenda Item #9 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna gave the Board a list of all individual amounts of the donations made from the donation letter the Board mailed out, (minus the names). Board member left meeting early to attend funeral. Agenda Item #10 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession and the Supplies reports with the Board. BreAnna asked the Board if they would like the Progressive Bingo to be open admission to the public. The Board discussed it and decided to see how the open admission goes at the Progressive Bingo on July 4th. Kiel Mangus the Deputy City Manager introduced his self to the Board. Kiel then announced that Dixie Chapman was appointed to the Senior Center Advisory Board at the City Council Meeting Tuesday April 9th. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to adjourn.
