APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY May 8th, 2019, 9:18 AM ROLL CALL JIM BURGESS JANICE NEAGLE DIXIE CHAPMAN DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: Gerald Brownlee Duane Day asked how Gerald Brownlee was doing, discussion was held and Eleanor Underwood asked that from now on email updates are sent out when any Senior Center Board member is ill. RE: Sedgwick County Mill Levy Review. BreAnna let the Advisory Board know that either in May or June the Mill Levy review will take place. Jim Burgess volunteered to sit in on this review with BreAnna. RE: RSVP Transportation Diane Schmitt asked BreAnna if there was any news on the RSVP Transportation service. BreAnna said they are still in the process of approving the contractual agreement. Jim Burgess said he got his license and is insured for RSVP Transportation. RE: Active Age Jim Burgess mentioned the article on the front page of the Active Age publication about the Senior council. Jim said he has been asked by the Department on Aging to repeat the meeting presentation. Jim said Wednesday May 15th at 9:00 am is the first budget hearing for the County Commission. Jim encouraged the Board to attend the meeting. Agenda Item #2 MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to elect all existing officers by acclamation. Janice Neagle seconded. 1 VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Board Manual Review BreAnna reviewed the new Board Manuals with the Board. All Board members signed and returned the Orientation Acknowledgement Statement to BreAnna. Agenda Item #4 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report April 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for April 2019. The expenses for April totaled $241.86 and the revenue totaled $675 with an ending balance $12,080.32. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report for April 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: Approve April 10, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the April 10, 2019 minutes. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #6 RE: Approve April 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the April 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program had a donation of $500 from the Derby Community Foundation and $130 for an ending balance of $2,002. There will be a presentation on May 14th at the City Council Meeting for the donation from the Derby Community Foundation. BreAnna invited the Board members to attend. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for April 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried 2 Agenda Item #7 RE: TNT BreAnna gave the April TNT report. BreAnna said the May TNT report will be presented at the June Advisory Board meeting. BreAnna let the Board know that TNT takes a break during the months June, July, August and will resume in September. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #8 RE: Covered Dish Chicken June 6 – Jim Burgess Agenda Item #9 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession and the Supplies reports with the Board. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #10 RE: Center Updates BreAnna told the Board that the center got a new projector and game table covers this month. Agenda Item #11 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna read the suggestion / comment cards to the Board and discussion was held. Agenda Item #12 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna told the Board the donation letter proceeds are now $6,530. BreAnna also let the Board know $471 was given to the Derby Senior Center from tax donations. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to adjourn. Tom Davidson seconded.
